Marcus Williams spoke to media members for about six minutes on Friday following Day 2 of Saints training camp.
The second-year safety used the word "past" six times during the first two minutes. The "past" is where Williams has buried his miscue that buried the Saints' season six months ago. Surely it hasn't been easy though. There have been plenty of reminders of the "Minnesota Miracle," the play in which Vikings quarterback Case Keenum connected with Stefon Diggs for a 61-yard touchdown as time expired, crushing the heart of the city of New Orleans. There were memes all over the internet of Williams' missed tackle. There are the Saints fans who still talk about the play and wonder "what if?" And just last week, the play won the ESPY Award for Best Moment. In the city of New Orleans, it was anything but a "best moment." But as Williams reminded the media repeatedly on Friday, that play is over. "It's the past," he said. "I'm moving on. You know it's always going to be on your mind, but you've gotta move on. It's a new season, new team; everybody is trying to be better than they were last year." read more on The Avocate |

Re: With dog-eat-dog mentality, Saints safety Marcus Williams is ready to make it to next level
This was Hagan's big pick in that great 2017 draft; Kev and I talked about him ad nauseum leading up to the draft...
Makes me smile because Kev was all like I'm getting one of your JP- man-crushes; I'd reverse it on him with sell me on Marcus Williams... Don't know why, but the last play in Minnesota hasn't bothered me; maybe it's because I'm impressed with his maturity, outlook and Kev nailed it... |

This guy has got a lot to make up for in my book. I expect him to help us reach the Superbowl this year not the opposite!

That play doesn't bother me either. It was a game we weren't expected to win on the road in the playoffs.
If we were favored at home in the playoffs & that happened...different story. Dude was a 21 year old rookie...he's still a stud & will continue to be. |

If all of us who have been around here a while lived in the past,
we would be jumping in the river and become some Gators dinner. That's a Who-Dat in the white shirt, but notice he's thinking about the next Dirty Bird game. Lord knows he can't go in and miss that. |

Not a guy that would ever consider being that guy. Any guy that would ever consider jumping the ship isn't truly a Saints fan. |

That's my point a lot of us old timers are still here and always looking forward.
The day that Mr. Brees came into our lives sure turned things around. We joke about the early days but I guess that makes us appreciate the teams success even more. |

At home, yeah, that'd hurt; but if it were in the Dome, we blow them out in that game...

Damn, the more I see of Williams progression this camp, and with the reports I'm getting, this will be your break-out player on defense this year...
