Can you name this player?
All time great Saint linebacker, drafted 4th round out of Kentucky, hard-hitter, nose for the ball, member of Saints Hall of Fame.
Sorry, that\'s about all the info I could come up with...you guys are gonna have to tell me where you get all of this detailed info you come up with. |
Can you name this player?
LB,
Love the cajun canon! Google searches are the easiest method. Type the player\'s name in quotations, then NFL, and then some other word you think might be helpful in refining the search. |

OK, more info on my guy. (Thanks, Kool)
One of the top linebackers in Kentucky history ... Three-year letterman from ----... First-team All-Southeastern Conference as a senior and named UK\'s Most Valuable Senior ... Led team in tackles during his junior campaign with 125 stops ... Picked second-team All-SEC in ----... Won UK\'s \"Unsung Hero Award\" following his sophomore and junior campaigns ... Named to Kentucky\'s All-Time Team by both the Lexington Herald-Leader and the Louisville Courier-Journal ... Played in both the North-South Shrine Game and the All-American Bowl following his senior year ... Named to the SEC All-Decade Team for the ---- by the Atlanta-Journal Constitution ... Went on to a 10-year career in the National Football League, including nine years with the New Orleans Saints (--------) and a season with the Baltimore Colts (----) ... Also has been an SEC game official. P.S.--Whodi, Kool, notice the new avatar. Thought I\'d let Bobby come out and play for a while and stop some of this confusion. (Whodi got chewed out yesterday because of one of my posts... :D ) I still intend to go back to an AM avatar when the season gets close, hopefully I will be able to find a different one. I was using it, as you may know, as a counteractive to the curse, and it has already worked to some degree...lol. [Edited on 4/5/2005 by Saint_LB] |

I\'m feeling the new avatar LB. But A-MAc is always available to you. If you really want it, I cam go back to Dalton. Let me know.
On to the challenge, there was one significant tell in your bio. Saints Hall of Fame LB. He is the only LB outside of the widely known dome patrol in the Saints Hall. He is none other than Mr. Joe Federspiel(who I honeslty have no idea who that is). Right? |
Can you name this player?
You\'re a \"chew out.\" ;)
|
Can you name this player?
Right you are, Whodi. Too bad you missed Joe...he was a real gamer. One of my all-time favorite Saints.
Your turn!! |
Can you name this player?
Okay, I couldn\'t find anything direct, so I am gonna have to make some rather ambiguous clues.

Could it be Barry Word from Va., and Dumbrowski was the #1 pick?
|
Try this one!!
Was tapped as the dumbest, most clueless member of the Sam Houston Institute of Technology in 1977. Brown nosed his way into a position as office boy at the Idaho Central Business College and Hair Cutting Emporium in Pocatelo. While there was demoted to water boy on the girl's swimming team. Worked his way up to the scouting department of the South Dakota School for the Emotionally Disturbed LaCrosse team. From there, after a year of having bogus credentials forged by Guido and Pedro in Juarez Mexico he broke into the NFL as a messenger carrying the Polaroids to the shredder. Some how or other he was then discovered as a Cap specialist because he was caught stealing money out of the pant pockets of players in the locker room, a talent that he learned from Albert Connell of the Saints. From there he brown nosed his way upward in the Saints organization, stabbing his mentor Randy the Mule in the AZZ and getting him fired. He has recently pointed the finger of gloom and incompetence toward the head coach of the team because he made the wrong draft choices and got a buffet hog rather than a defensive hog for the team by wasting 2 draft choices. His latest blunder is to have drafted a tackle with a bad knee number one and a total cripple number 4. Any guesses?????????????????? |
RDOX, glad to see you again bud. lol
Right on LB, none other than Barry Word. What gave it away? |

This Harvard grad played in the last half of the 70's, and scored in almost every game the Saints played during that time. Can you name him? |
Yepremian? Or Leypoldt? I am almost certain it is one. I am gonna guess Yepremian.
|
Quote:
It's funny, but my first recation to your guesses was that those guys didn't even play for the Saints. But then I thought maybe Yepremmian at the end of his career, and went back and looked it up and sure enough he did play for one year. Same with Leypoldt. But, apparently neither on of those guys played college football. |
Is it Rich Szaro?

He's not listed as from Harvard on the rosters I found, so I'm not sure.

Sweet! More shortly.
|
Ok. Drafted in the second round, this guy wore #26 long before Duece did. He changed positions before his time with the Saints ended, and it ended rather sadly. Born 1968. That should be enough for you guys; you're internet sleuths!
|
I'm gonna go with Vince Buck.
|
Good guess LB.
|
LB, your turn! What gave it away?
It was indeed Vince Buck. Are we the only ones still playing? |
Appears so. Batter up LB.
|
This will probably be easy for you guys.
He was th 420th player selected in the year he was drafted. This Ohio native is now a current resident of New Orleans. He is a Saint Hall-of-Famer, and at one time served on the coaching staff for the Saints. He ended his career with 369 receptions for 5,686 yards (a 15.4 average) and 39 TDs. Who is he? |
Danny Abramowicz!
The draft number was the key! I was briefly thrown off by the stats. The official web page has this for his career stats: 4,875 Danny Abramowicz, 1967-72 (308 rec.) Link: http://www.neworleanssaints.com/cust....cfm?pageid=73 But that might be regular season only. |
If I am right, here is mine:
Drafted in 1993 in the 3rd round by another team. Now sells real estate in L.A. (not LA). Tore his achilles while playing for us. Played for 4 different teams over his 8 year NFL career. I hope that is dodgy enough to take more than a few minutes. More hints if you guys can't get it right away. |
Billy Joe Hobert
I think Heath Shuler also sells real-estate in L.A. |
Nicely done DannyMac!
Also, welcome to the game and the board. What was the give away? Either way, it is your turn. |
Damn. I didn't even get a chance. Danny ate that sucker up. Good go. Hope you are around enough to give us another one Danny.

I have visited the board at least twice a day for the last coupe of years. I do not post much, just observe the excellent information that's put up daily. i do not have much new newsvto add since because this is where I get my info. This is easily the best Saint site around. Anyway here goes.
Wrestler at Oliver High(Pittsburg PA) Played at a independent college 44'th overall pick 174 rushing yards against Chicago Bears in a game (156 in the second half) 1351 career rushing yards with 11 TD's in Saints career Territorial draft choice by Chicago Enforcers(XFL) |
I know I know!!!!! Ray Zellars!! Man, he had this one run at Notre Dame where he completely destroyed this safety. I remember the highlight from when we drafted him. Me and my buddy raved about this guy. I was disappointed he did not work out. If it's not him I am gonna feel like a fool, but I am pretty sure it is.
|
Ray Zellers! I remember that game where he had 174 yards!
|
Damn Whodi, you beat me by a few minutes while I was checking my memory!
|
Nice work Danny.
I'm glad to hear that you like the site. I hope you stick around. I'm sure you have some views that you could share?! Cheers. |
