I don't think the vision failed necessarily. Ellerbe made an impact in the small handful of games he was available for. Now, you could argue that perhaps they should've known better than to hope to rely on someone so injury prone, and I might agree. But I think it was easy to see what he had in mind for him and it's just unfortunate that he couldn't stay healthy.

Ellerbe wasn't a failure because of his play, or the scheme. He just couldn't stay healthy. When Ellerbe played, the Saints defense was better.

Either way, we've spent a tonne of coin for middle linebacker and they're looking like our starting Weakside and Strongside linebackers...

Being available, especially when you have so much cap space tied into a guy you can't get his replacement, is a big deal...
