I was thinking today I wish the timing were a little better. I don't see Brees being ready to ride off into the sunset for at least another couple years, and I expect Payton and Loomis are gonna be faithful to him. Teddy would slide in nicely, but he would have to be willing to sit for an indeterminate amount of time, and I don't see that happening. He can and should be starting somewhere.

Re: LIVE THREAD SAINTS vs. Cardinals 2018 Preseason
Essentially first season for both Savage and Hill, let them get some more reps in games, evaluate at the cut date; if they've not progressed, then do a move...
If we trade for anyone, trade for Brees' alum Nick Foles, proving commodity (Superbowl run, Champion) that Payton/Loomis missed in Free Agency not once, but twice... |

Re: LIVE THREAD SAINTS vs. Cardinals 2018 Preseason
-The Saints don't have a viable backup QB. Savage doesn't have it. Hill is too frantic in the pocket. Barrett has potential but is at least a year away.
-The loss of Ingram for four games is big. Not that I don't believe Kamara can handle it. But, the two of them together are unstoppable. -Boston is the returner and shows good skills and potential at RB. -Carr showed up receiving and as a willing blocker. The Saints have to keep six. Thomas, Ginn, Meredith, Smith, Carr, TLL. Lewis for his overall value. But, Payton wasn't happy with him. I personally love Kirkwood but think he will slide to the PS. Big with great hands. -Oh my goodness if the starting OL can just stay healthy. Mauling people last night. -The young DL keeps showing up. Stallworth, Loewen and Lawrence have skills. -Arnold has skills. -Lutz and Morstead are money. -Leonard, Jamerson, and Moore won't make the 53. Look like whiffs from the draft department. -Maulet is good and competes. But, Lattimore and Crawley need to stay healthy. And Williams needs to get healthy. - |

Re: LIVE THREAD SAINTS vs. Cardinals 2018 Preseason
If Hill was the future, do you think Payton would use him on special teams?
Savage is a career backup. Regardless of your hopes, neither is the future QB in New Orleans. |
