Ted Ginn is having a bad camp. Tre' Smith is looking good and Meredith is coming along and will hopefully be the slot receiver we have been looking for Since Willie Snead never came back after his suspension. I am troubled by the WR's ability to get lined up properly and run the correct routes though. We need to get some little things cleaned up before we can get cocky about this team making a Lombardi run.

The team has a way to go I hope in time they do mesh. Looking at the preseason games of other clubs has me a bit worried. Looks like other teams are playing with passion and I just don't see it with this team. Maybe because it's preseason but we don't look so hot to me. We don't look so quick and stopping the run looks like an issue receivers are getting wide open. Looks really sloppy to me as we look out of position and not really well prepared.

The specific criticism Payton had was that the receivers were adjusting where they were lining up based on the play, routes called for them...

Payton wants receivers to line up in the same place every time based formation called, that way they'd keep an advantage of not giving a "tell" to the defense...
