Saints training camp Day 25: Marshon Lattimore takes over

Davenport progress: Marcus Davenport was again dressed and in attendance for practice. He took part in some positional drills, including one where he drilled his pass-rushing technique. While going through the drill, he received tips and pointers from defensive line coach Ryan Nielsen. Davenport did not take part in team drills or one-on-one rushes against the offensive line.

Not trying to call out the big feller but what exactly is Davenport's injury? I sure hope it's nothing serious like a sports hernia.

Last I heard one of the beat writers said it was a pulled groin muscle... Which is terrifying given our track record of misdiagnosed groin injuries.

Yes. A pulled groin. The team is handling this the right way. Davenport can gain valuable education in classroom and one on one technique drills without hampering the healing process. Far too often players return from groin pulls too early and are stuck dealing with them all season long. I have a feeling the old (since removed) medical staff may have given in to the front office and allowed players to return too soon.
