Also, Tre'Quan Smith is passing Ginn as the "Z" receiver...

Davenport, despite missing time, being a rookie, is a serviceable starter now...

Natrell Jamerson is definitely making the roster, backing P-Rob at nickel back...

What is it about the Saints and Mike Linebacker - are they asking too much of 'em?

Max Unger makes us an elite offensive line, but if he were to go down for a game or two - Will Clapp's play has been outstanding...

Does Ginn make the team now that Tre'Quan is here?
Do we go with cheaper talent at WR... Carr, etc...

Hill is work in progress and can contribute as a place holder and trick plays.. JT makes the practice squad. Savage is a phone call away if he is needed.

I don't like Trey Hendrickson starting at RDE....He can't stop the run....he was getting blocked by TE's too many times maybe he's better off as a 3rd down rusher

It may only be me but I cringe every time I see Ginn with the ball or it headed his way. I have little to zero confidence in his ball security or control.

-Brees, Kamara, Thomas, Watson, the OL, and T. Smith are ready.
-Carr makes the squad and will contribute big.
-Scott makes the squad easily and will at least contribute in the return game.
-Savage is good getting the ball out quickly. Otherwise not.
-Hill is good at the RPO. Otherwise less so.
-Saints will be watching the cuts at that position.
-Understandably, Meredith just isn't ready yet.
-Lattimore, Crawley, Jordan, Williams, and Onyemata are ready.
-A Bell sighting. Great to see.
-How do you keep Robertson out of the lineup? Dude is always making plays.
-Very good first showing by Davenport. Big, quick, strong and instinctive.
-Stallworth and Lawrence MAKE PLAYS and are always active.
-Don't get the Davison love. Never pushes the pocket. Never makes tackles. If he's eating blockers, then the LB's aren't doing their job either because the defense always gets gashed with him in.
-Don't see anything from Rankins either. Just doesn't pass the eye test. Hopefully, it's just the preseason.

-Notable cuts: Barrett, Bromley, Floyd, Hoomanawanui, Johnson, Kikaha, Muhammad, Tate, Tiller, and Turner.

Cruize, you make a fantastic point.

Why does it seem like Payton thinks Craig Robertson is not good enough to be a starter?

People used to say that no one could beat Scott Shanle out of his position, that was worrying. Now we have Craig Robertson who I believe is our most complete LB since Vilma and Payton continually demotes him to second string....

Honestly, name a more versatile and complete LB on our roster currently, Craig Robertson is the best we have.

IIRC, Craig was in with the 3's on sat. Head scratcher for me .

I don't like the rotation at LB'er. We should be done experimenting and we should be refining our technique. #53 is not a play maker. #52 is and #56 looks great.

Nailed it. My starting 3 LB's at the moment would be Anzalone, Robertson and Davis, with Te'o swapping in and out like he did last year.

Demario Davis has had as many mis-tackles and missed assignments as anyone...

Would love to be an invisible man in the room and try to figure what Dennis Allen is asking of these linebackers...

Can't help but wonder what Anzalone (Will) - Robertson (Mike) - Stupar (Sam) wouldn't produce "smarter" play...

It's the same damn scenario! Square peg........round whole. It is Sean Payton and his evil genius tendencies bleeding over I'd betcha'! We keep bringing in MLB year after year in free agency and paying them good money then moving them to another position. Enough Already!

Actually, besides Okafor I question our veteran scouting dept in almost every aspect.....however, we've done OK bringing in vets late in the year. It's the damn free agency that's killing me!

Stop the experimenting and trying to out scheme the competition. We need to play better assignments and settle into a rhythm at LB'er where we have starters who make plays from the same position week in and week out and build chemistry. :argue:

Never liked the thought of having a guy in and immediately trying to change positions. Huge gamble.

Welcome to Sean Payton's Saints. He can never leave a good player where they are on D.

Thank you good sir......I could not think of his name. None the less he does not impress me in the least. He is way too hit or miss to suit me. He is one of the few good old boys left from Paytons posse.

And what makes you think it isn't Dennis Allen and Mike Nolan making these calls ... as is their responsibility? I'd be shocked if Payton would be making LB position decisions. Player acquisition I can easily see, but not micro managing the defense to that degree.

If you remember back to when all those false accusations of "bounties" happened it became known that Payton never even stuck his head into a defensive meeting. He was always totally hands off. Now, I am sure he has more oversight these days, but not to the extreme of which you are implying. Nolan would walk in a minute if he didn't have most of the say in the matter. THAT'S why he was hired!
