Starting to sound like The Waterboy coach, and I even have the Roy Orbison tattoo.
Sounds like a winner Mr. Coach Klein

Honestly, I like the guy and I want him to succeed. I think he's a fantastic special teams player and a dangerous weapon when it comes to trick plays. And I still think he'd make one hell of a slot receiver. But last night didn't do anything to convince me that he's the heir apparent, or even that he's ready for the #2 role. I think he could potentially ascend to that spot in another couple of years if he works his ass off for it, but I still don't think he'd be ready to take over when Brees retires. He's most likely several years away from any chance at being a starter, and he's already 28. I just don't see it. And when you consider that they're letting him play ST, where some of the most violent hits occur, it sure doesn't seem like the coaching staff believes much differently than I do.
Definitely worth the roster spot though, to see where his progression takes him.

We better check the tape because years ago we had Guido Merkins... I think he played every position for us at some point... QB, Punter, Center, RB.

Threw his only two TD passes as a Saint 1982 and 1985 51.5 career QB rating. Caught 2 out of 3 as a Saint. 1981 and 1985.

Actually, after his performance last week when he was concentrating on throwing and not running he didn't do as well as he did this game with a little more time. I thought he read his progressions nicely and he ran only when he needed to. He could be groomed to be the heir apparently......possibly.

I like his pocket presence and poise in the pocket. I also think his delivery is crisp and sharp looking.....although not always on target but I believe coach Payton can work with that.

Joe Montana(before Drew came to New Orleans was my all time favorite QB) was replaced by a running QB and had a head coach who was an offensive genius. That franchise evolved and I believe Payton can help the Saints evolve as well. He may not be Bill Walsh but he's a damn good coach!

That is what I noticed the most. QBs don't usually get to make a whole bunch of reads on a given play, but he did well hanging in & not bailing too early. Also did well on that 1 screen in/near the red zone...he sold it well. His release is fairly quick, and he doesn't lock onto the checkdown like Savage does.

Still want to see more of J.T., but I get the feeling he'll be on P.S. this year & we'll see more of him next year. He's gonna be valuable for the scout team as we have probs with running QBs.

I don't think we should be comparing taysom to Steve Young...

Re: Saints quarterback Taysom Hill bounces back with performance that highlights his unique potential

The key number that most people miss with Hill is that he just turned 28. He red-shirted, did the LDS mission, and now here he is, a second year player at Chris Weinke age.

I hope we see a lot of him this year, but as QB-of-the-future he is a long, long, shot
