Lol JP, this is exactly the sort of response I expected from you.

When they sign him to an extension, and he takes over for Brees in a couple years and provides us with security at the most important position for the next decade or so, you'll be happy we gave up that puny 3rd round pick.

And those talented rookies will need extended soon enough. Along with 6 starters next year.

If we win it all this year as I anticipate I don’t see him coming back...and now that we have Teddy...I’m perfectly fine with that.
Agree with almost all of that ... except ... Brees has stated many times that he has goals in mind before he retires. Yes, another Lombardi is one, but holding all of the all-time passing records is within reach and THAT will take this year and next for sure. When we win it all this year he'll just have to bring home number three.

I knew that we were going to sign a QB. Getting Bridgewater for a third is an insurance policy that could pay big dividends. For certain you are unlikely to get a player at QB with as much upside as Teddy where we will be picking in the third RD. I like the move now we need to find a TE

Agree with this
Who knows when the decline happens but all to often in sports when it happens it happens fast and isn't pretty.

I agree that if we win it all this year it will be a very tempting way to go out.

But that another earlier pick that our friend, JP, can't ponder over next year. It's like losing a pet. It has to hurt.

You have to account for the fact that 3 or 4 years from now people will be retiring. Players will be getting cut. Contracts will be renegotiated. The salary cap will rise. We’ll be fine...and it’s irrational to think we’ll be able to keep everybody.

How much longer will Cam Jordan be elite? Ingram probably won’t come back next year. Unger has a couple years left. We might not even bring Peat back. Kamara will get his money. Thomas will get his money. Lattimore and Williams will get theirs. Those are our premier, young players. We have plenty of time. That’s what these GM’s get payed to do.

Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater

Payton has been learning from Bill B and the Patriot way

I was miffed when we traded Brandon Cooks but look how well that worked out

And the Patriots flipped him

Bridgewater is a low cost insurance policy
And legit answer to life after Brees
