Bridgewater is only 25... Brees was 27 when we signed him. Plenty of time for Bridgewater to learn the offense inside and out before potentially taking over.

Opportunity. It gives the Saints a year to warm Bridgewater up to the idea of taking over in the future at the cost of a 3rd round pick.

Wow didn't see that coming...

Didn't think our back up play has been all that bad in order to pull the trigger like this but it does smell like an analytics move... that could prove long term successor to Bree's.

At worst though even if he stayed and walked next year they'd easy get a 3rd comp pick the year after assuming no big FA deals
