Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater
1 Attachment(s)
This is not a drill!
The New Orleans Saints made a stunning move Wednesday (Aug. 29), acquiring quarterback Teddy Bridgewater in a trade from the New York Jets. With the move, the Saints add an experienced, high-ceiling quarterback to backup Drew Brees, and if the team can sign Bridgewater beyond this season, he could be in line to become Brees' eventual successor. "We are very pleased to obtain a young player with quite a bit of playing experience," Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis said in a statement. According to ESPN, the full terms of the the deal have the Saints sending a third-round pick to the Jets for Bridgewater and a sixth-round pick. Assuming it's next year's third-rounder, the Saints will have just one pick on the first two days of next year's draft because they already sent their 2019 first-round pick to the Green Bay Packers this year to draft defensive end Marcus Davenport. A first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014, Bridgewater signed a one-year deal with the New York Jets in March. He was impressive in the first three preseason games this summer, going 28 of 38 for 316 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. However, the Jets drafted Sam Darnold third overall this year, and he'll be their long-term quarterback. They also have veteran Josh McCown, which made it difficult to keep Bridgewater and his $5 million salary. https://expo.advance.net/img/7b8057d...65_320385.jpeg read more on NOLA |

Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater
Cant be more than a 5th or possibly conditional 3/4.
Guess that means he is either trade bait for next year or getting cards in place incase Drew walks away with a second superbowl under his arm in February |

Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater
Whatever the case, Bridgewater is signed to a one-year, $6 million contract, of which $500,000 has already been paid by the Jets.

Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater
Probably got a extension in the works.
Something has got to be in place here. |
Re: Saints Trade for Teddy Bridgewater
I'm a Bridgewater fan myself and wanted him this past off season. Hell I wanted to draft him. I'm pretty happy. I'm curious to see if we can develop him as Brees' heir. He has a very good skill set.
