LB Ronald Mckinnon & Peter Boulaware

here's a little info on them...................... Ronald McKinnon UFA Cardinals – After taking over the starting job inside for starter Eric Hill in 1998, McKinnon has been a mainstay and one of their best players. McKinnon is known as a good run stopper but his skills are clearly declining and he’s just average in pass coverage. He still should get some interest in free agency but he likely only got a few years left as a starter. Ht: 6-0 Wt: 240 Position: MLB Projected as: MLB Position Rank: 5 Date of Birth: 9/20/1973 Experience: 9 High School: Elba HS (Elba, AL) College: North Alabama Peter Boulware has consistantly been able to get after the quarterback. There are few players in the league that have as much explosivness coming off of the edge. While he is a pass rushing demon, Boulware has improved his pass defense. Still, Boulware needs to improve his run defense to be considered the best strongside linebacker in the game. Peter Boulware attended Florida State University. A hard-hitting outside linebacker, Boulware racked up 52 sacks in his first five years in the league. Peter Boulware Facts: Peter Boulware entered the NFL Draft after his Junior Year at FSU... Peter was Baltimore's first-round selection in the 1997 NFL Draft forth pick overall... Won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year honors in 1997... In his Junior Year Peter Boulware was a first-team All-American selection and was named National Defensive Player of the Year by Football News as a junior and was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year and All-ACC... With 19 QB sacks, Peter shattered the Seminole's all-time mark of 12 held by Ron Simmons in 1977... Peter first Pro Bowl in 1998 was as a "Need" Player, after being voted a first alternate... Boulware in the Pro Bowl, 1998, 1999, 2002 & 2003(Did not play knee injury)... Ed Block Courage Award Winner... Brother Michael will be drafted in 2004... Ht: 6-4 Wt: 255 Position: OLB Projected as: OLB Position Rank: 12 Date of Birth: 12/18/1974 Birthplace: Columbia, SC Experience: 8 High School: Spring Valley HS (Columbia, SC) College: Florida State |

I thought we did look at McKinnon earlier in FA? Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought there were rumors that we'd talked to him.

Agreed.
I'd like to see a vetran presence in our LB corps - a starter with some pop. Ruff and Rogers are ok, but they aren't too thrilling. I'm having mixed feelings about this, since my mind keeps telling me that we need a serious vetran starter, but my heart keeps me wanting to see what Bockwoldt, Fincher, and Watson can be! I like Boulware, if we're just going to go for a punisher (he at least still has some wheels). |

I think Boulware has more athleticism than any of our linebackers and would be a good addition to our LB corps. The only thing I wonder about with Boulware are his financial goals.........
http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/footb...are&player=208 I think he might be looking for more money than the Saints are willing to dole out. |

You're probably right Duece. I agree, though, that he would be a good addition.
Papz made a good point in another thread that we are probably going to free up some cap space soon. I think that things are pointing that way. It is just not clear to me how we are going to do so. |
