Re: Corresponding Move For Gillislee, Saints Release Stupar

Starting to think this is not so much about a roster spot for Gray vs Stupar; nor a RB vs Stupar...

But rather, this is a Bridgewater salary slot, QB Depth more valuable than Stupar contribution, salary cap costs...

Ah, there's two threads re: Gillislee add, Stupar release...

We may need to ask the admins to activate their Wonder Twin powers and merge these discussions, comments...

Guido, I really hope those words don't come back to haunt us...

Your fandom club is carving it in stone with their fingernails as I'm typing this...

He played like the deranged Spartan who lost his son in that last PS game no question about it. Here is the thing though; that was against BACKUPS. He won't sniff that in a real game. 30 years old, declining. Solid player but he is not the second coming of anything. Slightly above average and that is being nice. Still, would have liked to have him but that is life. I know though that "someone" is about to go off on me because I do not post facts and the reporting of others and instead use my own reasoning and mind power to come to conclusions. This person frowns upon anyone with a god damn opinion outside of anything they say.

Why? Are we losing a really good starting linebacker? He's a solid special teamer but nothing more.

We will be just fine.

Not sure who that someone might be, but I've never once felt Stupar was anything more than a complementary specialty teamer. Agree with your assessment completely.

Not confirmed but per WWL he’s a Giant.

Considering you beat me with an aluminum bat with everything I post because I do not attach newspaper clippings? Where could you possibly get that idea?

Jokes aside, the moves being made are to improve the team. Maybe they return, maybe they do not. End of the day the best of what Peyton deems the best will be on the field.

Once again, agree.

Short Memories make for Short Lives (Playoff Lives)...

We were awfully thin at linebacker at the end of last season - experienced linebackers like Stupar do make a difference...

I will agree Stupar is good depth/solid special teamer but some sound as if we just cut Vilma, Luke K, Bobby Wagner types at the position.

We have newer, younger, cheaper, faster versions of Nate Stupar on the current roster now. We will be fine.

For me, it’s not just about cutting a backup linebacker, it’s that we could have released somewhere else.

Why cut a guy with so much value when there were others that nobody else would have touched?? That’s really what irks me the most, it’s sloppy management/strategy.

Problem is that he is solid debth at what is probably our shallowest position. Anzalone is great but I’m not sure he can stay healthy.
I was just happy for him because of his
Drive and balls out performance against the Rams.
Will our team be worse without him? Probably not, but if injuries start piling up he would be great to have.

Re: Corresponding Move For Gillislee, Saints Release Stupar

Let's see how the season plays out at the LB positions. We still have Mr. Consistency Craig Robertson. I truly think this team is deep with talent.

Fingers crossed on guys staying somewhat healthy for 2018.
