I do think something must be in place only 2 RBs for the first 4 weeks is nuts. I do wonder if mike gillislee could be here long term. I really don't see the team re-signing Ingram next summer. Especially if Drew doesn't walk away with a Superbowl this year. He is going to want big numbers and as much as i am a fan his age and injury history you don't want a 4-5 year deal.

Ditka draft 2.0. Got rid of all our draft picks this year and traded away the first two days of the draft next year.

Don't get it. The guy has the skills to play in the NFL The contrarian in me hopes he signs elsewhere and contributes big time. Clearly, they feel strongly that he will clear waivers and be signed to the PS. Peat clearly isn't healthy. Bad bad.

I get that the Scott move is a little bit of a shocker, but this guy is nothing special. He is a small guy who does not have elite speed. He has potential, but if he gets signed by another team it's not all that big a deal. On the other hand, hope the Saints know what they are doing, because none of this makes much sense.

I thought that as well but he's actually very strong and fairly fast. Better speed, strength and catching than MG.

MG is about 12 lbs heavier, a few inches taller and proven experience of 4.8 yards a carry.

I'm not happy about it but I get it. Go with the known. 4.8 yards a carry, decent body of work to prove it. Good vision and angles. Peyton is doing the right thing as much as I hate to say it.

BS will get picked up IMO. Redskins would be a good fit. Adrian will not last and Mike Thompson is not 100%.
Also Seattle because Penny got fat.

I'm just not a fan of TLL. I had him as a "bubble player" heading into camp and I still feel he didn't make team. The main issue I have with Tommy is he lacks return prowess/field awareness.

If Coach Payton has him returning punts, I really hope it's because he's shown something in practice that didn't show up in preseason.

Just reading between lines, it appears Scott needs a lot of work in pass protection. I could see Williams promoted to the 53 by Sunday & Boston to the p/s (assuming he clears waivers).

My spider senses tell me Boston will clear. If a team wanted him, they would have snatched him by now. No sense in waiting this long.

This....doesn't make any sense. Scott clearly out performed every RB in preseason except Kamara and Ingram. Williams and Gillislee are one dimensional backs...if they are in the game it's going to be a run and most likely inside the tackles.

The thing that made our running game so great last year was that both Ingram and Kamara can catch the ball in space and make plays.

I have a feeling that Brees will be throwing 35+ passes this week....not a good way to start things...

Coaches must be seeing a bit more. How is Boston's pass protection? I think if Payton was confident in his ability, Scott would be here. I think the staff trust veterans more. Let Gillislee run inside the tackles & see how he does.

Personally, I'd rather have vet RB's protecting #9 until Mark Ingram returns from suspension.

I hope you are right about the reason for Williams over Scott. Maybe they saw things in camp regarding past protection since we didn't see much of either one protecting on pass plays. Williams was pretty much running the ball every play he was in the game. Scott provides so many more dimensions than Williams, Gillislee, and Washington.

So much for not wearing Kamara out...if he is only going to get 15 touches total then we are going to be very pass heavy. Gillislee doesn't know enough of the playbook to truly contribute beside some inside runs.

There is a very good chance the Saints will add a veteran after week 1 is over. They will probably do this so they are not on the hook for an entire years worth of salary.

AD didn't know the playbook either when he was traded mid season but did well on a short notice.

Other positions it's more of a problem but a RB can pull it off most of the time. He also won't be out there much.

I agree 100%.
Also Scott looked decent but up until Sunday Williams was considered a lock to make the roster by pretty much every report I read. Williams was the clear front runner. Williams effort on that last run hurt him. Hopefully a wake up call.

People also have to realize that not every roster move is a linear move towards the future. A lot if not most are made as a result of something that has taken place or an adjustment for the upcoming opponent. If Payton thought Scott had a real future here then I’m sure he would have made it work.

Steelers are way down on the waiver order. SF, Skins could be in the market. Probably go with Skins with Chris Thompson not healthy but looks like he's playing. I think he falls back to us if we want him. Rookie RB is not a good waiver wire grab. Better to go with DL and OL. Market is saturated with RB's.
