We'll miss Ingram in this game if for nothing other than blitz pickup.

Must protect the rock this week.

Re: Sean Payton prepares to welcome Gregg Williams back to New Orleans

Overall I think we've stunk it up on defense during the Sean Payton era. Does he not want to hear what DC's are telling him? It blows my mind that we've never (minus a couple of fluke years) had solid defensive develop under SP.

I mean we aren't just bad on D, we are off the map, historically awful defenses. Outside of G Williams, all of Payton's coordinators have had poor production. It appears we bring in guys from other teams (Vilma, Fujita are the exceptions) but doesn't have a clear plan on how to use them.

The one time Payton gave full control of the defense to someone else, the Saints made the playoffs three consecutive years and also won a Super Bowl... unfortunately I don't think the culture will ever change on D until Payton calls it quits in NO.

Just my opinion here but what ever Coach Payton's philosophy has been on defense over the last decade, IMO he's wasted some of the best games, seasons to one of the best QB's ever to lace em up.

End rant.

The only time we had success was when GW was here and there was that “leave me the **** alone and let me do my job clause”
Then that went to hell.
I really feel like Payton is sticking his nose into DA business. Payton covets successful defenses he sees and tries to force his coaches to play that type of defense even if we don’t have the personnel for it. Just a hunch and opinion.
People who want to keep their jobs don’t go around changing things when they just got things going in the right direction. Our defense last year worked under DA and personnel wise we got better. There is no reason why this defense should have
Taken this big of a step back. Even if we overachieved last year, given the addition of Coleman and Davis we should still be middle of the road.

Wish we still had GW as our DC.

Say what you want about the guy, but he never stood for less than 110% effort and he made a top 10 D out of physically challenged players like Scott Shanle.

I think people hold him responsible for the 2011 loss against SF when he called a blitz causing us to get burned by Golston. We had that game won. A lot of people say he did it on purpose because he knew bountygate was coming down and thought he was going to get thrown under the bus.
Me, I like the guy. Wish we had him back.
And cost us a trip to our second.

Nothing to do with the 5 offensive turnovers by Brees and Sproles then?

Yea you’re right Dizz, he's the only one that made chicken salad out of chicken s**t. More importantly he played to the players strength not the same ole square peg in a round hole they've been running since.

I will never forget when GW returned to NFL he had that goatee and different glasses...I guess it was his glasses and fake mustache disguise...but I still recognized him

I don't put bountygate on Williams. That is when my hatred for Roger comes in.
