It is extremely common for players to spend their entire first year on a practice squad. Right now the Saints just want a temporary RB on the 53 man roster until Ingram returns. Then that player will simply be cut. It is far too much of a risk exposing a player that could have a future by activating from the practice squad and then trying to waive and retain him to free the spot back up for Ingram. It perfectly logical. Oh, and even small backs can chip a pass rusher enough to be effective as long as they are up to speed on reading the threat. |
