OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OUR TEAMS RECORD WILL BE THIS SEASON?
PLEASE VOTE & EXPLAIN YOUR DECISION......... |
RE: OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
I THINK WITH OUR O-LINE WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE BALL...KEEPING OUR D OFF FIELD....AND WITH THAT EXTRA REST OUR D SHOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY AT A HIGH LEVEL LONGER.....ALSO MOST OF THE TEAMS WITHIN OUR SCHEDULE THIS SEASON ARE A LITTLE WEAK ON OFFENSE OR IN THE PROCESS OF BUILDING THEIR TEAM.....THIS COULD BE A GOOD YEAR FOR US......

RE: OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
I think 10-6 is realistic given the parity in the NFC. I truly feel we have some of the most talented players at the skill positions in the NFC. It will be interesting to watch. I hope this turns out to be the case. I think if the new run first philosiphy works out, this will also help out our defense. When you constantly are 3 and out and cannot score in the first quarter, a lot of pressure is put on the defense. When your defensive talent is maybe just above mediocre, that will make them look horrible.

RE: OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
12 - 4
If they don't let wins go to their head, 16-0. |
RE: OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
9-7. It's hard to really say the team is going to be that much better without them having entered camp or anything. Let's see how the new offense playbook works out before we get too excited.

RE: OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
The correct answer is 8-8, until they prove otherwise. :)

RE: OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
Can't the exact same thing be said about every NFL team? They are what they are until they prove otherwise? Thats no fun, and its incorrect. Changes have been made, we play different teams, coaching philosophy has changed, other teams change.
Based on what I've seen us do, what other teams have done, our schedule, our coaching changes, our team chemistry, our late season success, I'd say barring injuries we should win anywhere from 9 to 11 games. let me rephrase that. On paper this team looks like a 10-6 team plus/minus a game. I'll say 10-6, until they prove otherwise. |
RE: OUR 2005 TEAM RECORD
Pretty tough schedule ... they'll have to go 4-2 in the division to even get to 8-8 ... I agree with Danno: On paper this team (the players) looks like a 10-6 team ... Coaching staff is good for 2 extra losses ... 8-8 again.

News Flash: No game is an sure win, therefore no game is a sure loss. Not one single game on our schedule is going to be a breeze. Of your 4 stated losses, odds are we'll win one or two of them. You can never be sure. NYJ-Loss? nope, toss up. They have more questionmarks than we do. GB-Loss? Nope, toss up. They are a team on the decline both on offense and defense. Oh forget it. Its like talking to a wall. I give up. Atlanta-Michael Vick- 2 Losses Carolina-Great defense, great coaching- 2 Losses Tampa Bay-Great draft, great DC, offensive coach getting his players - 2 Losses New England-HA! Loss Buffalo-Up and coming team with great D. Loss Miami-Nick Saben, good defense, Ronnie Brown - Loss New York Jets-Better coach, better QB, Loss Minn-Awesome offseason, Loss Green Bay-Better QB, better RB, Better defense, Loss Detroit-team on the rise, coming together-Loss Chicago-After Miami loss, and before bye week? Loss St Louis-Better RB, better Defense, better coach, better QB,-Loss NY Giants-Better QB, better RB, Better Coach, Better defense,-Loss Yup, what was I thinking? 0-16 is obvious to anyone with a brain. |

.. if no game is a sure win, and no game is a sure loss, how can you.. oh never mind... where is the ignore button here? |
Here's a thought, when you see the name "Danno" don't read it.
It works the same as an ignore button if used properly. |
Look, a brand new format for the site, but still the same BULL$H|T between people!!!! I love it!!! Finally BNG is Back!!!!!
|
i'll go with 10-6 just because i love to be let down
|
Danno - you're doing a fantastic job in your new role as white wizard!!!
http://www.blackandgold.net/site/ind...ghlight=wizard Look man, I think that this team has the talent to be 11-5, maybe better. But it also has the coaching, discipline, and find a way to lose spirit that makes me think they can be 5-11. That said, whether you take the average, go by recent history, or simply ask, is there really any way the Saints will give me something other than the worst case - you come out to 8-8. I just can't imagine a world with the Saints winning and an owner not threatening to leave. Sometimes I try to think about the late 80s and early 90s, but that just seems like a dream now. |
Here is how I think the season will go down... I think its mostly in Sheppards hands. Mike feels he is going to make a name for himself. If he does well then we are in the playoffs. If not we are going to be sitting at 6 wins at best. The improvements on D are going to be noted but its Sheppard who this is going to make or break us.

Tampa-2 wins we always play them hard
Carolina-2-I think we can sweep them this year. The whole Jake thing means another level of play. Atlanta- we will split. We've played them close in past years. That's 5 wins for the division. NYG-Win-Eli still learning the hard way. STL- win team on decline and weak offensive line. Martz will blow up. CHI-win I forsee injuries on that team.Grossman is coming off injury and mushin is old. Bensen is new to nfl so expect a sprain. DET- Loss This years Chargers GB- Loss - old man goes out in style and is playing us in Lambeau MIN- Loss-winable but Dante is a competitor NE- Loss- you know why. NYJ - Win-Their loss alowed us to not make the playoffs. revenge is sweet. BUF- win-I don't know much about this team but it's a home game so advantage us. MIA- Win - with or without ricky So that's 11 wins if i counted correctly. i'll take a +/- 1 |
Compare the out-of-division schedule to last year's ...
2004 - 2005 San Diego (12-4) L - NE Denver (10-6) L - NYJ Seattle (9-7) L - NYG Minnesota (8-8 ) L - MIN St. Louis (8-8 ) W - STL Kansas City (7-9) W - GB Dallas (6-10) W - BUF Arizona (6-10) L - DET Oakland (5-11) W - CHI San Francisco (2-14) W - MIA Based on how well I expect our opponents to do this season, I'd say the schedule is slightly harder this year. That's why I think the divisional games are even more crucial this year. They need to win those games, ESPECIALLY in the dome. |
Good call tobias. Danno wants opinions, but only the ones that will blow smoke up everyone's ass. IF you don't pick 10-6 or higher, you are a pessimist. Someone remind me what our record is the last 4 years? 32-32? Every team in the division got better, Minn got better, last I checked Green Bay still had Favre and Green, NYJ was a playoff team last year and got Coles back, who is better than Moss. Yeah they look worse. They even have a kicker who can boom it. But listen to Danno everyone, 16-0, no even better 19-0 cause we will waltz through the playoffs and the Superbowl. Don't let that smoke being blown burn your ass though.

Yes you are right WhoDat. In my other post (team weaknesses) didn't you take my point to task about the talent on this team? I may be over-estimating the influence the new coaches may have, but I'm not overestimating the talent on this team. So you guys can choke on that ass-smoke for all I care. Everyone was disappointed we finished 8-8. Why? Because we're better than that. If we had glaring weaknesses everywhere you'd think most would be surprised we won 8 games. But this team has been label under-achievers by everyone. You can't finish 8-8 and be labeled under-achievers unless you have the talent that could finish much better. |
