..hmm.. the owners would approve the move of a franchise from a small TV market to the 2 biggest TV market in the nation.. it's all about revenue sharing and the TV deal..

I wish this relocation talk would go away, it's weezin on my gig way to much and I truly don't think it will ever happen.
Robinson is right about one thing, Benson would NEVER get the 24 votes necessary for relocation to LA and why would the other teams vote for the move, they would have to contend for airtime with LA's new team and the second largest TV Market in the country. It makes more sense that they would vote for a team with a much larger metro area, such as Indy or Minnesota. It's the same theory about Upper, Middle and Lower class people in America. The rich people only want rich and poor people, no middle class and they certainly don't want anymore rich people. So it doesn't make sense to take a small market team and turn them into large market team in the second largest market in the country, now does it. The Cherm has spoken! |

And, the TV money is shared equally among teams, so it benefits all owners to have a team in a big TV market. |
RE: Re: RE: Relocation? A snippet from Charles Robinson
yes sure it makes sense for team to be in a huge market... more money... blah... but people tend to forget that the Rams moved out of there... Raiders moved out of there... if it was so profitable why leave int he first place? Why would you approve a team to move out of a huge market and cut your profits as a league. UHm, its not profitable in LA... the city doesn't support NFL like they do the Lakers and Dodgers. Secondly the NFL wants a team in New Orleans they love it there and want to host Suber Bowls there every so often we get the most Super Bowls than any other City. We lose the Saints we lose the Super Bowl... wait, even with the Saints we lose Super Bowls, lol.

Wait a second? You mean that Tom Benson's claims that he is considering relocation aren't 100% truthful, accurate, and based on realistic scenarios???? I just don't believe it. Who would ever expect Tom Benson to be anything but open, honest, and fair? I mean, whay else would he possibly say that he might move??? I have no idea. Anybody know?

Hey Tobias, you said it yourself, LOCAL airtime not National. What game do you think advertisers would want to spend their money during, The Saints/Falcons or the Raiders and the new team in LA.

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Relocation? A snippet from Charles Robin
All the talk about LA being a bigger market and therefore more valuable is assuming that more people will watch the games in that area than those who currently watch in this region. I'm not sure that if you move a team with the history that this one has to LA that there is going to be a whole lot of interst. Maybe I'm wrong.
I tell you this and I'll be on the L.A. Saints' website gloating about my prediction after it happens...the Saints org will suddenly start going to the playoffs and contending a bit more after the move. Why, you ask? Because the NFL will want them to, that's why. |

...that's easy.. the Raiders and the new team in L.A. As per www.census.gov: (rounded) Population of N.O.: 500,000 Population of Atlanta: 500,000 Population of L.A. : 4,000,000 ..and if you extent the area to the counties each city is in, it gets even more lopsided.. |
