Re: Watch: NFL Network analysts say Drew Brees lacks 'wow factor' to be named among great QBs

I don't know what this means...

What defines "wow" factor for so-called experts? I may not have a dog in the fight, these days, but I have a brain that functions and can see things for what they are, and this is one of the dumbest things I've read in a while.

Are you supposed to throw the ball with a certain motion to 'wow' people? Do you have to dress like a woman in press conferences? Because if we are talking physical ability and stature, aside from other QB's being taller than Brees, what is so much more impressive about the others in the "greatest of all time" discussion? Did Joe Montana wow anybody with his athleticism, or even personality? I don't think so. Does Tom Brady wow anyone in those categories? No.

Was Peyton Manning's complete lack of mobility and little ability to improvise when a play broke down impressive? Maybe it was his awful play in the post-season, even in the years when he won the super bowl.

Brett Favre had all the stats, personality and improvisational skills to be a mega star. But he also turned it over more than just about anybody.

Johnny Unitas was as boring as they come, if you're into the rah rah junk, and he didn't have very many more touchdowns than interceptions in his career. But he played in a vastly different era, and its impossible to really make a fair comparison between he and the QB's of today, or even 30 years ago.

They all had/have unique skills and belong in the discussion for the best of all time. How do you say who's the best? The stats would have to tell you it's Brees and then Peyton. The Super bowls and consistent winning would tell you it's Brady with Montana right behind him. People will debate all kinds of things about intangibles until they're blue in the face, forever, and no one will ever win the argument. But to unceremoniously cast Brees aside because he apparently lacks some abstract trait known as the "wow factor", without being able to articulate how that is even so, is just plain lazy and dumb.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Just silly. Emmit, IMHO, is not the best rb of all time. I don't think he was better than Barry. At the end of the day, however, dude put all more yards than anyone else in history. And although I don't think he's the best of all time, he is definitely one of the best of all time. That's silly that they're saying he's not even top 5 and putting Aaron ahead of him. Just wow, the stupidity. I think there's a bit of jealousy

James Jones and Maurice Jones-Drew....LOL

Tough for someone to comprehend greatness when they’ve never seen it in their own life.

Getting critiqued by those less competent/knowledgeable than you is worthless.

Saw a little of their "analysis". Clowns with very little knowledge of what Brees has done over the last decade.

IMO Jones-Drew still has some animosity of being the step child to Reggie Bush's greatness at USC/1st rd pick/winning it all in NO vs 2nd round & landing in Jacksonville, losing consistently. Even when they are on the set together, Maurice looks at Reggie side ways .

Shock jock. He knew, or more likely his manager knew, they'd be replaying his clip over and over. And it worked. In his business, it's better to be known as an idiot than an unknown.
