But you're right, trading two draft picks for Davenport, no matter how well he's coming on was stupid, foolish and costly; it left us without an in-season option...
There are plenty of other in-season options. The move to pick up what may very well end up being a generational edge rusher won't stand in the way of a deal if they truly want to execute one. And who knows, without Davenport being in there the remainder of the season all hopes of winning it all may not even be in play, thus making talk of adding an additional key piece to the puzzle moot.

Who cares about the draft picks?

If the team is where they think they are, a high draft pick would probably not get a ton of playing time. Peterson resolves two issues (book end DB & the return game). No brainer for a prime time player. See Chicago Bears.

One impact player can be the difference between a marginal team & a legit SB contender. If anyone thinks we are headed to Atlanta with Crawley and/or PJ is kidding themselves.

Anything is possible folks. Anything.

Just why would it even be a high draft pick?

JP -

The Saints have a really good team lined up for 2018 & beyond. This is unnecessary stressing over what the Saints front office did with draft picks last off season.

You've got all of 2020 to complain if Davenport (he's already a monster after 4 games) doesn't end up developing.

Let's go get it !

when I thought it was no chance we could trade for Bridgewater or sign Jairus Byrd; I learned my lesson to doubt the front office.

I just hope they do their due diligence before committing to signing him

With your record of projecting, Dude, that pretty much means it will happen.
