Ingram's New Contract

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I changed my mind... Let's sign him to a 3 year deal, maybe 4 years with a voidable year. He and Kamara make an unstoppable pair with Drew at QB. He did take way too long to get his game ...

Ingram's New Contract

I changed my mind... Let's sign him to a 3 year deal, maybe 4 years with a voidable year. He and Kamara make an unstoppable pair with Drew at QB. He did take way too long to get his game going, but that allowed him to have fewer miles on the odometer than a RB of his current tenure.

Championship!

I always figured we would let him walk when his deal was up, but now I’m 100% in favor of re-signing him. He’s the heart and soul of the team and is so beloved by his teammates. It would be a huge mistake to let him go and mess up the team chemistry.

All I can say is ... duh! Anyone thinking that Ingram needs to be moved is uninformed (ie. dumb as a brick).

Re: Ingram's New Contract

So, his irresponsibility in regards to his positive test means nothing?

Goodell gets the blame for that one too?

Many players have been popped for FAR worse than a cold medicine that he thought he had clearance to take.

I'd rather have his studly running on our team.

I don't care if it's cocaine or tylenol.

If you are unavailable to help your team, it is irrelevant.

And, cold medicine my butt.

You missed it then. Cris Carter, a close friend of Ingram's family, revealed
on air that the positive test was indeed triggered by cold medicine. That explains why Ingram fired the agent that represented him at the time of the failed test ... AFTER the season was over. His new agency fought the suspension because, in their words, "he tested positive for a substance that was 'permissible with the proper use exemption with the NFL.'"

First of all, Ingram never failed any test he was given DURING the Season. What good would it do to cheat and take performance enhancing drugs AFTER the season is over, huh?

Second, it is the responsibility of a player's agent to apply for the "proper use exemption," officially known as the Therapeutic Use Exemption. It is common for players to take medications during the off-season for treatable conditions like the cold or flu. All it requires is a TUE filed, by the players' agency, with the league. Putting one and one together it is pretty obvious that the agent's failure to file the TUE to allow Ingram to use the common over-the-counter cold medicine was a fireable offense and fits the timeline perfectly.

Once again, why didn't Ingram fail any of his random tests DURING the season if he was taking something "performance enhancing?"

Ultimately, Ingram was held responsible, regardless of how unfair it may have been, because the NFL has to stick to its rules. But, you can believe whatever you wish, no matter how illogical it may appear. That is your prerogative.

Personally, I don't blame Ingram at all. I blame what players have repeatedly called a "broken" testing system with inconsistent guidelines.

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” — Winston Churchill

Studly, as in ...

Everyone knows who the studly Fantasy rushers are, but everyone wants to know which running backs have a chance to be sustainable starters later.
