Colby Bockwoldt

I have heard several opinions of Colby Bockwoldt through out the end of last season and during the current off season. Unfortunately, I live in Idaho so I can't watch Saints games very often unless I have the Ticket. Last year I was able to watch only a few games due to my work schedule. Because of this, I was not able to watch CB play all that much. It seems the kid has made a name for himself on the field. I would like to know what you guys think of Colby and why. I have heard he is "good", "will be good", "average at best" and that he is "not the answer at LB". I know little about him and he is currently somewhat of a question mark to me. Can you guys that have seen him play and know a little more about him tell me your opinions and what you see for Colby for this season? Thanks

RE: Colby Bockwoldt

Personally, I expect Buckwoldt to get better this season, and I think that he has to be a strong candidate to start again. Colby is somewhat of the anamoly for the Saints. Most of the team's players are great athletes who can't get their heads in the right place, and can't show any consistency.

Buckwoldt is the opposite. He's smart and dedicated, but undersized slightly and not the best athlete. He's pretty close to being the classic underdog. He's a guy you love to root for. I think it's just far too early in his NFL career to know whether he'll be able to get his body in the kind of shape that it needs to be in, or to see if he's smart enough to use his head to make up for his limitations physically. That said, I would not be surprised in the least if Colby were a solid player for the Saints for years to come. Right now, I wouldn't say that I see any Pro Bowls in the man's future, but he can be solid, and he is probably already the most consistent performer of the LB corp.
