Still waiting to see what we gave up.

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
Apple's mom has a blog with lots of opinions ...
Hopefully the Saints did their Due Diligence. |
Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
Hurt his ankle against Atlanta and was not expected to play against the Redskins...
Sounds legit |

I think we've darn near cornered the market on Ohio State DB's! Just hope he looks like the Buckeyes Apple more than the Giants Apple who hasn't done too much.

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
4th rounder in 2019 and 7th in 2020

Yikes, don't know how to feel about this one. Guess we'll see.

I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it'd help.

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
I'll put a positive spin on it ...
He's only 23, talented, cheap (on a rookie contract for another year) & a guy we can develop. The guy isn't Patrick P, however he's a HUGE upgrade on Crawley. |

Wanted Peterson more but the Cards will only move him for a huge haul and his salary on top. Also Apple is still on his rookie deal for a few years. Only 23 so if they can sort out whatever the offfield issues where you have a good young corner for his prime years. Having former college team mates will help too. |
Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
I like his size and speed... And anything is better than what Crawley has been this season

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
My wife is a Giants fan, so I tend to watch their games as well. When I heard the rumors about going after Apple, wasn't really sure what to think.
He is definitely better than Crawley. He does play well sometimes, but also see him give up plays, make bad decisions a few times a game. So, even though he is an upgrade, not sure if its worth giving up picks for him. Apple did make a couple key plays last night, so there's that I guess. |
Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
He's really bad at football. Hopefully a change of scenery will serve him and us well. God given talent isn't a question here.

Eli Apple is not very good. (on the field)
Not sure he is good locker room guy either. Collins referred to him as a cancer in the interview... |

For what its worth, below are ProFootballFocus grades for Lattimore, Crawley, and Apple this year...
Lattimore- Defense: #58 CB Coverage: #59 CB Crawley- Defense: #105 CB Coverage: #101 CB Apple- Defense: #36 CB Coverage: #41 CB |
Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
The Saints will get way more out of Apple than with that dumpster fire team up in NY did. From purely a football perspective, if anyone doesn't see this as upgrading at the position ... not sure what to tell you. Many considered Marcus Peters "cancer" as well. Too bad the Rams didn't think so.
I'm just glad the Saints made a move at a position of need & based on the details, we stole him for nothing. |

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
Now even though he's been really bad at football, I do like the move. Very low risk with big upside. Sometimes a player just needs a fresh start. Looking forward to see if we can get him playing up to his potential.

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
Biggest question mark is how quickly can he pick up the scheme? A guy like Patrick Peterson would've been plug and play immediately. Not so sure it'll be the same case with Eli.

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
He’s significantly better than both Crawley and P.J. Williams. There’s no doubt about that.

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
Crawley has been burned 1 outof every 10.75 snaps with 3 pass defenses
Apple has been burned 1 out of every 14 snaps with 5 pass defenses and 1 Forced Fumble... So yes an upgrade! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The locker room is strong in NO, mentally focused men and coaches. Aaron Glenn will get the most out of Eli. I'm certain he will. Just 2 short seasons ago, he was a top 10 pick. I'm looking at the upcoming schedule and all I see are potent air attacks with major WR threats. IMO we just signed a guy who will minimize all of those "late td bombs" that we are becoming too used to with Ken Crawley. Immature? Surely but I'm confident he'll grow up in New Orleans on and off the field. At the end of the day, we all want players that will give us the best chance to win. Major upside here & he's damn near the same age as Lattimore. |

Crawley has 75 penalty yards this season; Apple has 5...

Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
6’1.
4.4 We haven’t ever had two cornerbacks with this combination of size and speed before. I really wanted Patrick Peterson like everybody else, but this is a huge upgrade. We can relegate P.J. Williams to the slot only and really start a path to the Super Bowl. |
Re: Giants trading Eli Apple to saints
I have mixed feelings about trading draft picks away because Jeff Ireland can give us good players in the draft and our free agency moves have been hit and miss in the off season.

Yeah. More and more our 2019 is looking like it is going to be a bit of a concern and quite boring. We might only have 1-3 picks in the entire draft. Better hope it's a bad crop of players next year. |
