I think it is possible we would trade him due to all the picks we have traded away. It is possible. But Teddy is the first real starting caliber QB we have ever had behind Drew. We would probably be fools to trade him, but nothing is outside the realm of possibility. There is nothing I've seen or read to indicate that move was a one year insurance policy. Do you know how utterly dumb our front office would have to be to trade a third round pick for a one year backup. Unless we recoup that draft pick I'd think we was stupid as could be. What an utter waste that would be

Your team stinks

TBW is a gamble. First and foremost he's insurance for 2018. It was clear that none of Savage, Hill, or JT were anywhere close to running the offense by the end of the preseason. While of course we don't have a clue how TBW will do under real fire with the Saints, he looked good for the Jets in the preseason. Let's not forget that before his injury he was a Pro-Bowl caliber QB.

That said, Loomis has already stated that a second reason is to give the team and the QB some time to evaluate and get to know each other. The front office has hope that it'll turn into the same type situation with Paul George and OKC in the NBA: get a player with a year left, woo them during that year, and hope they'll choose to stay even though there are other opportunities.

If TBW walks, the Saints will likely get a compensetory 3rd back in the draft. If not, they may their QB for the next 12-15 years.

Insurance now, chance for a high quality QB later, for essentially a shuffle of picks if he decides to walk.

What's not to like?

We'll know the answer in a few days, because when the trade deadline comes and goes Tuesday and TBW is still on the squad, then the Saints are like pigs at breakfast: committed.

SFIAH

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

But if we trade him before November would t that mean he wasn't inusrance for 18 since he would be gone.

If we get the pick back no harm no foul.
