Better QB: Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers??

Re: Better QB: Drew Brees or Aaron Rodgers??

I always hear talk about Aaron Rodgers being better than Drew Brees but, and this isn't really about bias, I can't see it myself. Rodgers is an amazing Quarterback no doubt but Brees is even amazinger. Whenever I hear about rings being a determining factor on who is the best Quarterback, it doesn't make sense. If that is the case, Eli Manning would be better than Brees and Trent Dilfer would be on a par. I kind of get fed up that Brees is shoved to one side in many conversations. Oh, they think he is great but when compared to Manning/Brady/Rodgers, he isn't quite there yet. Brees is better than Rodgers and as a Quarterback (not a team led by a Quarterback) he is better than Brady... Ok, come at me!

The "logic" used to derate Brees is that he only has one ring. Let's use that "logic" for another key position.

Running backs:
Herschel Walker - no ring
Bo Jackson - no ring
OJ - no ring
Earl Campbell - no rin
Gale Sayers - no ring
Thurman Thomas - no ring
LaDainian Tomlinson - no ring
Eric Dickerson - no ring
Walter Payton - 1 ring
Marshall Faulk - 1 ring

I guess those guys just weren't that good after all.

I think you're missing the point.

Brees does not have all of the natural physical skills of a great NFL QB. In spite of that, he is going to break every record. That to me...makes him even greater.

Do more and do it for longer Aaron.

Get the SB this year and this is over. Brady, Brees. Then everyone else.

Read an alarming stat that doesn't get talked about for the Rodgers faithful ... his Packer team is 0-29 vs teams with winning records while trailing in the 4th quarter. Experts rarely mention that one.

How many would like to place a wager that Rodgers won't be doing what #9 has done when he's 39 years of age :p ?

Drew doesn't play defense. He doesn't play special teams. He is not the coach. How could he have possibly won another Championship unless he was making key tackles and interceptions for the defense? He's good but that's asking a lot from just one man out of 22 starters.

He is amazing and those who can't see it always amaze me with their ignorance! He is the all time best considering what he's had to work with and his production in spite of team limitations. :bng:

How dare you speak ill of the high priest who makes sacrifices to the gods of football at the sacred temple of Green Bay.

Well, what I find amusing is that Brees doesn't get the respect he deserves from the talking heads, even though they generally introduce him as a future 1st round Hall of Famer. Yet, I don't recall anyone, ever using the "Hall of Fame" moniker with the esteemed Mr. Rodgers. Funny?

I want him to play at his current level for another 5 years. That way, in 35 years, when I turn 100, I will be able to look in the NFL record book and Brees' name will listed next to nearly every QB record.

The question I want to ask the football pundits is, "If Brady were the same height as Brees, would he be as successful, more specifically, would he have 5 Super Bowl rings as the starting QB?"; the same for Manning, Rothliesberger, etc.

+ Barry Sanders (no ring)
+ Jim Brown (1 pre Super Bowl championship)
