Sean Payton glad Saints play late game, since LSU does too
The eyes of the football world will be on Louisiana this weekend, but coach Sean Payton is more worried about the inevitable headache.
Via Josh Katzenstein of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Payton said he was grateful that his team’s showdown with the Rams was a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff, not because of any scheduling concerns of his own, but for the fans who will be watching No. 4 LSU host No. 1 Alabama Saturday night in an 8 p.m. kickoff. “When that game is over with, and hopefully we get the result we’re looking for, we need to get some rest,” Payton said, regarding fans. “Fortunately, our game isn’t until the second slot, so that’ll allow them to sleep in and a much easier double-header. “I get concerned when it’s an LSU night game and a Saints noon game. But, I like the time slots.” PFT | |

I have always noticed this as well. The Dome is often sluggish for noon games, after a big LSU game the night before, especially if it's a tough loss. 3 PM kickoff means people get to segue from Bloody Marys in the morning to beer to whatever else, they are properly "tuned up" before the game starts.

I'm an LSU fan, I'd love to see them win..but let's be real here, the game that really matters, that people really need to be ready for is happening Sunday afternoon. Resign yourselves to the 98% chance that LSU loses and get ready to rain nonstop noise on the lambs.

Re: Sean Payton glad Saints play late game, since LSU does too
Personally I'm an NC State fan. That's where I truly became enthralled by sports getting to cover ACC sports for three years. Having lived here in Louisiana mostly since 1967 I respect LSU but have no true affinity. But, on the other hand, I was here for the birth of the Saints so that is my true football passion ... my true sports passion.
