Question about Ingram
Will the Saints use Ingram more that he has been in a couple games after his suspension?
Since he will be an UFA next year, are the Saints experimenting with Kimara to see how he handles the load in preparation for potential life without Ingram in 2019? |
Re: Question about Ingram
I see it as riding the hot hand and trying to keep both of them as fresh as possible during the season... I don’t believe anything we have done this season is preparing for the future; except maybe the trade for Bridgewater

Re: Question about Ingram
Ingram isn't the same back he was last year. Could be lots of reasons. My opinion is he just needs reps.

Re: Question about Ingram
I think Mark has performed pretty well, being that the last 4 games since he's been back have been against strong run-stopping defenses (Skins, Ravens, Vikes, & Rams). Even Kamara's production between the tackles in the last 4 games have been hard fought yards.

MI has a lot of value protecting Drew too. He's an easy target for fans I guess, but I personally hope we resign him after the season. |
Re: Question about Ingram
MI is doing fine... He will pay off big late in the season.
But... As for keeping him next year, I'm not sure, depends on the contract. |

Re: Question about Ingram
Wouldn't resign him. He is great at pass blocking. That is something he excels at. He is great change of pace, don't want kamara as a featured back with all us else he does out of the passing game. Still wouldn't resign him. I kept thinking how he hasn't done much of anything this season in 4 ganes. Looked it up 50 for 181 yards. That's pedestrian. We really need to spend 5 million a year for that, really? We can't draft someone to provide that?

Re: Question about Ingram
Ingram will get resigned for all of the reasons listed and none of the stats....
Is Kamara better because of Ingram changing the pace? Possibly until proven other wise. With Kamara playing so well does Ingram's YPC matter a whole lot? Id rather Drew protected all year and Ingram gaining an additional 1 YPC... No one here is arguing that our OL didnt do a fine job against the Rams, Ingrams blocking was part of that. Our offense has reached that 2009 point where we can win whether Drew throws 200 or 500 yards and that's a sweet m0th3rfu7in place to be. The whole of our offense right now is greater than the sum of its parts. |

Re: Question about Ingram
I think Kamara would be just fine if he had to carry the load. Things worked out well for Jamaal Charles and Kamara is built just like him. I do love Ingram and if the price is right, we should keep him.

Re: Question about Ingram
I think Sean likes the one-two punch for running backs. He wants RBs that are fresh into the fourth so I think subbing will continue. Now will Ingram be resigned? Depends on the FA marketplace and how desperate another team is; if the Saints can get him for a reasonable price I think he'll stay.

Re: Question about Ingram
You also have to be smart and take into account what he brings into the locker room...

Re: Question about Ingram
I said his run would not start until week 10. Well, week 10 is this week. They will need to run the ball to slow down that bengals O.

Re: Question about Ingram
Payton is often kind of a little slow and cautious in working players back into the rotation, after they've been away from the team for a while. Same thing whether it's coming back from an injury or a suspension. He just works them back into the game plan a little slower, than some people would like to see. People said the same things about Deuce when Duece would come back from an injury or his suspension -- "what's wrong, why isn't Payton giving Deuce the ball more?" etc. etc.

Re: Question about Ingram
Ingram looks a lot more human this year. He's doesn't look even a little angry anymore! I hope he gets back into form soon. This seems to happen to a lot of players coming back from suspension.

Re: Question about Ingram
Ingram does everything well. He is a hard runner who fights for extra yardage. He blocks exceptionally. He is underrated as a receiver out of the backfield. I like how, if necessary, we could get by with either him or Kamara as the sole back if we had to. In today's game it's almost always RB-by committee, so having multiple backs who can fill the full role is necessary.
I'd rather see us keep him than look elsewhere as he has great chemistry with Kamara and the team. Of course given the price works in our plans. I don't see us fully replacing him with other options and would regret letting him move on. |

I think the absence of Coleman may have something to do with it. Hopefully Dez will help.

Re: Question about Ingram
I don't think he's back next year
Sad to see him go but that cap space can surely go to more important areas other than a player with a good few years under there belt. When he is running angry one of my favourites players but business wise I can see them letting him go with other deals needed soon |

But if we don't want to run kamara into the ground we need another back with him. I don't think the MI of this year is worth 5 million but you make some valid points |

Remember the last teams we’ve played all built defenses. Payton will unload the beast when it’s right |
Re: Question about Ingram
Mark won’t leave this team for a million more a season it’s going to be up front cash to make him leave and that depends who’s buying too he s not going to buffalo for no amount imo

Re: Question about Ingram
Who else are we going to get? Kamara was fine for the 4 games but no way he can keep it up all season. You could tell he was stretched thin. The other 2 backs did nothing.
He will benifit from better blocking from Dez. |
