Re: Report: Saints re-work Terron Armstead deal to pay Dez Bryant
Is changing salary to signing bonus good or bad for Armstead? Or does it make any difference?

It might make a difference for him in how he's taxed, for his accountant to deal with, but in terms of sheer $$ numbers he's getting paid for his deal, it's no real difference. Signing bonuses are taxed differently than income.

Generally it's better in the off season as a swap both guarantees the money and gets it to the play in the offseason instead of having to wait to get the checks during the regular season. For the Saints it facilitates pushing those dollars into future years lowering the cap hit now while upping the cap hit on future years. Gives flexibility in terms of signing others. SFIAH |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |
