Fortunately he's a smart rookie. He plays. He does his job. He blocks. And he doesn't complain about it. I believe he understands that if Thomas or Kamara or Ingram or Watson are open, Brees will get them the ball because they are higher up the progression tree than he is. Brees only has 9 sacks this season, and none in the last 3 games, because he throws the ball to the first open guy in the progression.
