HOUSE APPROVES BUDGET BILLS, NO MONEY FOR SAINTS
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) _ An $18.4 billion spending plan for 2005-2006 that would continue most health care services, boost education spending and pay for dozens of lawmakers' local wants has been approved by the full House.

The budget bill made no mention of the $15 million that the state owes to the New Orleans Saints, due by July 5. Rep. Troy Hebert of Jeanerette noticed that, and asked about it.

“We haven’t addressed it yet, Mr. Hebert, I haven’t seen instruments yet, but I imagine before this process is over, we’ll figure that out, responded State House speaker John Alario.

The Superdome commission is looking at refinance Superdome debt to come up with the cash.

The budget for the year that begins July 1 would grow by another $300 million if lawmakers approve the proposed cigarette tax and a proposed tax hike on private hospitals, to cover health care costs.

With Governor Kathleen Blanco watching from the side of the House chamber for part of the debate, lawmakers narrowly rejected an attempt to pay for teacher raises out of the state's current dollars instead of with the tax increase Blanco wants. The governor proposes a one dollar-per-pack tax that awaits debate in the House to fund pay raises for teachers, college faculty and school support workers.
$150,000 dollars to equip golf carts with gps systems....
$578,000 to fix the air vents in the Govenor's mansion...
More corrupt wasteful spending details to embarrass Blankstare to follow.
Stay tuned

Oh, the 8/10,000 of the budget required to meet the states agreement with our Saints is NOT included.

Wow - now that's just bad business. This thing is turning into Dumb and Dumberer. Here the State finally has Benson against the ropes and the legislature goes and does something like this. Just took the legs right out from under Blanco (who, by the way Danno, doesn't see the budget until after the legislature approves it ). My lord. I'm starting to think maybe the entire State of Louisiana deserves to just fall into the sea about as much as Indiana deserves to be paved over.

Wanna bet when she does approve it I can find 3 times the 15 million in ridiculously absurd spending programs?

BTW: Who's your favorite Hot-air baloon racer?

Does the 16 million dollar Oil and Gas museum plan on using field turf or natural grass?

I noticed this carp in the Times-Picayune the other day, too. After all the hard work to get my job to move me from Birmingham to New Orleans, the politics are just as rotten and they're running my team outta town. Sleazebags...

My lord. I'm starting to think maybe the entire State of Louisiana deserves to just fall into the sea about as much as Indiana deserves to be paved over.
Agreed. Two months down here has been enough. Cue the Lynard Skynard, I'm coming home...

They still have to work on it... They just voted like a week or so ago to continue paying the payments or not and that was approved so that is a bill they have to come up with the money to pay.
