Re: On To The CowGirls
Series notes: Dallas leads the overall series, 16-12, but the Saints have won nine of the past 11 meetings dating back to 1998. ... This will be the sixth time out of the past nine times they have faced off the game will be played in Dallas. New Orleans has won four of the past five, including the only Thursday game, 30-27, on Thanksgiving Day 2010. ... In the last meeting, Oct. 4, 2015, in the Superdome, Drew Brees passed for 359 yards and with touchdowns to Josh Hill and CJ Spiller, and the Saints won, 26-20. ... The Saints have not allowed a 100-yard rusher to Dallas in victory since winning 42-17 on Dec. 10, 2006 at Texas Stadium, when Julius Jones went for 116 yards on 10 carries, although one of those runs went for a 77-yard score.
NEW ORLEANS over DALLAS, Thursday at 7:20 p.m. Sounds as if the Cowboys are talking a lot of smack and can't wait for their chance to get after the NFL's best team. Seems to me over the years that's when Sean Payton and company are at their best. Already with the second-longest win streak in team history, to top their longest streak, they'll have to beat the franchise that ended the 13-gamer in the Super Bowl season of 2009. Fact is, Payton and Drew Brees have had success in this series, as they are 5-2 against the Cowboys since 2006, although one win was in 2012, when Payton was suspended. Beyond all that, it seems as if the Saints have an answer for just about anything these days and can win in all sorts of ways. Last week might have been one of their more average performances on offense, but yet still it was a fairly easy victory. And although this is as tough a defense the Black and Gold will face the rest of the way, the same was said before traveling to Baltimore and Minnesota a month or so ago. Fact is, the way the Saints have been playing against the run, even on the road against one of the top two or three running backs in the NFL, forcing Dak Prescott to beat you seems like a fairly successful formula. We'll see Thursday, because unless Ezekiel Elliott rushes for more than 100 yards and two touchdowns, I don't see this one being much different than the past four blowouts on the schedule. (Lower scoring, though? 26-17?) Against the spread: Saints minus-7.5. Least-favorite pick against the spread this week.

So the Saints have beaten the #1 and #3 NFL defenses so far. Dallas is rated at #7. Dallas has not faced this kind of offense at all this year yet.

For those who aren't into Marvel comics, this GIF character (fictitious of course) is called JUGGERNAUT created by the great Stan Lee RIP.
Dallas fans ... get ready for this. It's coming. Saints are a juggernaut heading your way. |
