No loss is good, but could this be?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I did not think we played as well as we could have against Atlanta in the Dome. At least offensively. Against Dallas the defense provided plenty of life and chances for us to win. The offense got their butts kicked. ...

I did not think we played as well as we could have against Atlanta in the Dome. At least offensively. Against Dallas the defense provided plenty of life and chances for us to win. The offense got their butts kicked. You had to think we were going to lose at least one of our final six games. We got it out of the way. We also got our teeth kicked in up front.

Dallas played their super bowl, and that is not an exaggeration. They were overly amped and hyped to prove something. Is their defense as good as demonstrated Thursday, I don't think so at all. Is our offense that bad, I don't think so. If Dallas comes to the dome in the playoffs they're going to get destroyed, utterly destroyed. And I say that without any worry at all.

I think this was a good timed arse whooping. Should get us refocused for the final push and playoffs. We have a good bit of time off this week to hopefully heal up.

The loss is not surprising, the way Dallas played with that level of emotion is not surprising. I expected this out of Philly a few weeks ago. Guess they were just too banged up to provide it. Sometimes it is simply about when you get a team.

The game was horribly officiated, but it ended up being on both sides...they were just ****ing terrible.

No reason we cannot go 14-2...hopefully this is a wake up call. I expect it to be. (Oh and I think we might have seen why we picked up Bryant and than Marshall)

I pretty much agree.

Usually whatever a team is doing that is successful, the Saints make adjustments; I didn't see that happening.

Anybody else notice that this appears to be “no offense week" in the NFL. Makes me feel just a wee bit better.

Because we aren't going to drop enough games to lose 2nd seed and Payton doesn't want that much tape on our adjustments for other teams to watch?

Even if we went 12-4 we are pretty much assured 2nd seed. Is first seed worth giving those teams you would face a preview of all of your adjustments?

If it would keep us in the Superdome throughout the playoffs, yes it would be worth it.

No way this was the scenario.

It wasn't a preseason game.

Re: No loss is good, but could this be?

I think the loss could be a good thing. We were likely to lose at least one more anywY. I wish it would have been to the Steelers but at least it wasn’t within the division. A wake up call is sometimes what’s needed to stay on track.
