If I am reading the rules correctly, a team can only return one player from injured reserve to the active roster.

Since the Saints have returned Tommy Lee Lewis, doesn't that mean Tedd Ginn Jr, along with the other 7 players still on IR are done for the year?

There is an article on PFF says that Tedd Ginn & Josh LeRibeus could be activated to the active roster.

IR (designated for return)

The league changed the injured reserve with return designation so that you no longer have to designate the player ahead of time. Teams are still only allowed to bring one player back, but they can bring back any one player they've placed on injured reserve.

Previously, if a team wanted to use the one return designation spot, they had to declare it when the player was placed on injured reserve. Now, they can just see who is getting healthy quickly, and take them off IR. Once they take that player off IR, the rest of the IR players must remain on the list.

Last year they expanded IR designated to return to two players.

Does anybody know his status? We may be discussing something that is not even feasible.

I know Kenneth Dixon finally returned but it took almost the whole season. I don't see him returning. That is a serious injury. No practice, lots of rehab. Doesn't seem like a good move in the playoffs. He will also need a couple of weeks of practice where coaches feel confident. There is not enough time left for it IMO. He's not even practicing yet. Dixon took a couple of week of practice and he has finally been gradually walked back into starter.

I'd take JR for depth before Ginn

If Ginn was coming back, we probably wouldn't have invested a nickel in Dez or BM (yeah, I heard it too)
