Brees ,rivers, mahommes
I’m afraid tonite will spell the faith of the mvp for bressus . If rivers goes in and spanks the kid Brees still has a shot but if mahommes throws 4 or 5 tds without 5 picks it’s over what the press is spreading it’s not even close dam it

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
I think Brees lost the MVP over the past 3 games. He’s just been off.
|
Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
I bet QB greats Dan Marino & Dan Fouts would gladly exchange that MVP award for a Super Bowl ring.
Brees has one ... working on #2. |
Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
I love Drew and think he's deserved the MVP multiple times over the years, but this is a team sport and I'm looking for a Super Bowl championship for the Saints. His resume is set as is his first ballot Hall of Fame entrance. MVP or not, we know he's the GOAT.

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
You just have to operate from the default position that when it comes to acclaim or attention, Brees is not ever going to get it -- then anything that actually does happen for him with the media or the league recognition, is a big surprise, and a welcome cause for happiness and sweet celebration. But he's been overlooked and underrated his whole darn life -- that IS the Drew Brees story, it's who he is, who he's always been, and that's not gonna change or stop now.
The life lesson that Drew teaches all of us about determination and grit and never giving up, even if they say you're too short/too this, too that, if they say you can't do it but you still do it -- him teaching us about THAT SPIRIT is far better than any personal award he could ever get, IMHO. The folks who GET IT, get it. I will not lose a single minute of sleep if Drew doesn't get MVP. I really won't. But next time I'm tackling a messed-up situation at my job or in my personal life, next time I'm rejected or rebuffed or I'm fighting an uphill battle, working on a tough project, trying to get something to happen, when I'm down, and my back is against the wall, I will think of Drew, and I will get inspiration from that, to come back and show them that I can do whatever it is that they are trying to keep me from doing, or whatever crap life throws at me I will show them I can overcome it. That's how this all works. That's the real Drew story. Not a trophy on a shelf. A lot of people forget that Drew's mother died right before the 2009 season. For most people, that would have wrecked their heads, put them in a slump, but he came out gunslinging and just tore a new one in the NFL defenses that year. And anytime I hit a personal setback or a rough patch in life, I always think back about that. He did all of that, with a tremendous amount of personal stuff bouncing around inside his head. As far as I'm aware, Peyton Manning didn't do what he did, in 2009, in the face of such personal tragedy. There IS a difference there. Peyton's been expected to be great, he's been told that he was the bees knees for as long he can hold a football. Drew is for us, the fans, especially the ones who are underdogs ourselves in life. The MVP award is for them...the other people....like Muggles in the Harry Potter world. Those people can have the Aaron Rodgers and Mahomes and all those types. Let 'em have 'em. Drew belongs to all of us, the ones who get it. |
Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
Get another ring. Screw the mvp.
But I do agree he has lost it in the last 3 games |
Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
Every QB that has won the MVP has had off games and thrown an INT they feel stupid for throwing in that winning season.
They created some BS stats but statistically on numbers that count Brees has Mahommes. It’s Drew’s to lose. https://247sports.com/nfl/new-orlean...126227361/Amp/ |

1. That pick-6 essentially sealed the game. It was a decisive turnover. 2. The MVP was awarded the night before as the NFL MVP is a regular season award. Of course one of the implied criteria is that the MVP's team plays that year at a playoff level of quality. So often in the eventual MVP is in the playoffs at some point. 3. Brees of course won the Super Bowl MVP. His stat line for the game was sick: 32 of 39 for 288 with 2 TDs no picks and a 114.5 passer rating. SFIAH |

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
Mahommes is very talented and has a bright future. He will have plenty of opportunities to win MVP. If they pass Drew over for him, then I argue the award becomes a complete joke.

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
Drew doesn’t get the attention he deserves but Rivers really gets the shaft when it comes to media attention and discussion about elite QBs. Rivers has had an excellent career and has performed on an elite level his entire career yet his name is rarely mentioned. At least the national media puts Brees in the discussion when it comes to the HOF or GOAT but Rivers gets treated as an average QB. No, he’s no Brees but he’s been playing at a high level for a very long time. No wonder Eli refused to go to San Diego

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
I don’t know if you guys have noticed this trend, but the MVP never wins the Super Bowl nowadays. Check it out:
2017: Tom Brady- Lost Super Bowl 2016: Matt Ryan- Lost Super Bowl 2015: Cam Newton- Lost Super Bowl 2014: Aaron Rodgers- No Super Bowl appearance 2013: Payton Manning- Lost Super Bowl 2012: Adrian Peterson- No Super Bowl appearance 2011: Aaron Rodgers- No Super Bowl appearance 2010: Tom Brady- No Super Bowl appearance 2009: Payton Manning- Lost Super Bowl 2008: Payton Manning- No Super Bowl appearance 2007: Tom Brady- Lost Super Bowl In fact, the last time the league MVP won the Super Bowl was Kurt Warner in 1999. It’s almost like a curse. If that’s the case, Patrick Mahomes can have the damn thing! |

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
I don't think the Chiefs are done losing. Mahommes also did something tonight where he could have easily got blown up like Kurt Warner. He was trying to block inside for a RB. Defender had a clean shot to blow him up but didn't go for it. I know Seattle and Oakland will be looking at that hard. Take him out and it's over with.
He also took some brutal hits because he refuses to go down. He might win the MVP but in the playoffs he's going to pay for not knowing when it's over. |

Seattle is getting hot & this game is away from Arrow Head. Chiefs better be careful ...if they get in as a wild card, they could be one and done in the playoffs. That defense (secondary) is the weak link. |
Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
It's going to be really close if Maholmes ends up a wild card. If he gets outplayed by Wilson I don't think he deserves the MVP. But we will see.
And I could not care less about winning something already won by inferior QBs in my division. |

put more pressure up the middle. Even against Dallas, Drew put some balls in the receivers hands and they dropped them. If Tre'quan catches that pass inside the 5 it's probably a TD and there isn't a turnover on downs and we win that game. Again this past Sunday, no protection until the block punt jumped started the team and lit a fire under their backside. |

Mahomes can have the league MVP. It a joke anyway. I'd rather have the Super Bowl title.

Super bowl MVP would be just fine. :p

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
if they get in as a wild card, they could be one and done in the playoffs.
In the AFC Wild Card Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Colts rallied to turn a 38–10 Chiefs' lead into a 45–44 victory for the second largest comeback in NFL playoff history. Yes, Andy Reid was the coach!! |
Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
Does tonight’s Chiefs result stitch up the MVP for Drew?
