Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
I think Brees lost the MVP over the past 3 games. He’s just been off.

I love Drew and think he's deserved the MVP multiple times over the years, but this is a team sport and I'm looking for a Super Bowl championship for the Saints. His resume is set as is his first ballot Hall of Fame entrance. MVP or not, we know he's the GOAT.

Completely agree. That said, I would still love to see him get the MVP. A lot can happen over the next few weeks, looking forward to seeing it all pan out.

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
You just have to operate from the default position that when it comes to acclaim or attention, Brees is not ever going to get it -- then anything that actually does happen for him with the media or the league recognition, is a big surprise, and a welcome cause for happiness and sweet celebration. But he's been overlooked and underrated his whole darn life -- that IS the Drew Brees story, it's who he is, who he's always been, and that's not gonna change or stop now.
The life lesson that Drew teaches all of us about determination and grit and never giving up, even if they say you're too short/too this, too that, if they say you can't do it but you still do it -- him teaching us about THAT SPIRIT is far better than any personal award he could ever get, IMHO. The folks who GET IT, get it. I will not lose a single minute of sleep if Drew doesn't get MVP. I really won't. But next time I'm tackling a messed-up situation at my job or in my personal life, next time I'm rejected or rebuffed or I'm fighting an uphill battle, working on a tough project, trying to get something to happen, when I'm down, and my back is against the wall, I will think of Drew, and I will get inspiration from that, to come back and show them that I can do whatever it is that they are trying to keep me from doing, or whatever crap life throws at me I will show them I can overcome it. That's how this all works. That's the real Drew story. Not a trophy on a shelf. A lot of people forget that Drew's mother died right before the 2009 season. For most people, that would have wrecked their heads, put them in a slump, but he came out gunslinging and just tore a new one in the NFL defenses that year. And anytime I hit a personal setback or a rough patch in life, I always think back about that. He did all of that, with a tremendous amount of personal stuff bouncing around inside his head. As far as I'm aware, Peyton Manning didn't do what he did, in 2009, in the face of such personal tragedy. There IS a difference there. Peyton's been expected to be great, he's been told that he was the bees knees for as long he can hold a football. Drew is for us, the fans, especially the ones who are underdogs ourselves in life. The MVP award is for them...the other people....like Muggles in the Harry Potter world. Those people can have the Aaron Rodgers and Mahomes and all those types. Let 'em have 'em. Drew belongs to all of us, the ones who get it. |

Re: Brees ,rivers, mahommes
Every QB that has won the MVP has had off games and thrown an INT they feel stupid for throwing in that winning season.
They created some BS stats but statistically on numbers that count Brees has Mahommes. It’s Drew’s to lose. https://247sports.com/nfl/new-orlean...126227361/Amp/ |
