It's crazy to think the Saints got "snubbed" with five Pro Bowlers (QB Drew Brees, DE Cameron Jordan, C Max Unger, WR Michael Thomas and LT Terron Armstead). Especially considering they had zero initial selections in both 2016 and 2017, when they were in the midst of three straight 7-9 seasons. But they really could have dominated this list. RB Alvin Kamara and K Wil Lutz are the most notable snubs (Kamara ranks second in the NFL with 16 touchdowns and ranks fifth in the NFL with 1,487 yards from scrimmage – but he ranks fifth among NFC running backs in that category). On the flip side, QB Drew Brees has gotten plenty of love in his career. His 12th Pro Bowl selection puts him in a tie for ninth place among all players in league history. ... The Saints had a total of five first alternates as well. The NFL doesn't publish their names. But that means they could wind up with more Pro Bowlers -- assuming they don't make the Super Bowl instead.

Re: Pro Bowl

Broncos are 6-8 and Von Miller's in... So I don't want to hear any justification about players not making it for down seasons... this is a popularity contest, straight up. Means nothing other than a bonus and nice trip for the players.

Re: Pro Bowl

This is what happens when fans vote. Lutz has been money all season. I have 100% confidence when he out there for 3. Players should have the vote like the top 100. But they can’t vote for teammates.

Re: Pro Bowl

What would be really cool is if players pick one conference and fans pick the other.

Re: Pro Bowl

The Pro Bowl is nothing more than a popularity contest. Many players over the years were perennial pro bowlers simply because of name recognition. The NFC OT's are a perfect example of this. None of Smith, Williams or Armstead have played a full season or even deserve to be there. People just know their names or see team success and infer that they would be heavy contributors.

I think the biggest snubs in the whole thing may be Darius Leonard of the Colts or Chris Jones of the Chiefs.

It clearly isn't based on actual season performance and has become a joke. Once you get into alternates and injury replacements, etc. you have dozens of extra "pro bowlers" regardless of actually who should be recognized.

Even most players admittedly don't really pay attention to other teams and know if individuals have earned their spots and pick based on name recognition.

I think it should be solely picked by associated press and coaching staffs and be ceremonial only. There is no need for that farce of a game to be aired at all.

Kamara was a probowler last year. Sorry to tell you but I drafted Zeke this year in FF (over Bell). Kamara's numbers fell off down the stretch but Zeke has been the offense for Dallas. Zeke was one of the few bright spots on my fantasy team this year These votes are a result of many who play FF or casuals that want to watch big plays.
