Propose your list. Let's see who's closest on Sunday. Here's mine:

Brees, Cam Jordan, Armstead, Bushrod, D. Davis, Lattimore, Michael Thomas

I don't want to see any of these guys except for being on the sideline in hats.
I still worry about the O-Line. I wish there enough roster spots so that the entire starting O-Line can sit out. But given the circumstances getting Peat more reps at LT along with getting Tom and Clapp into the game will have to suffice. I really wish we had Bushrod back. But with his hamstring he has to be on this list. If he were healthy I'd put Kamara on this list. As it goes, Alvin will be active with a hat on in a box labeled "Only break in case of emergency".

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.

Rest the O line. Bring up practice squad guys if necessary. Give Taysom and Bridgewater some QB time.

Unfortunately PS guys are not an option because a current roster player has to be waived/placed on IR to bring someone up and the PS player placed on the 53 has to be waived to get back to the PS.

Play the starters one series then sit them the rest of the game; let Brees get his 4k passing yards.

Basically agree with this, although, I might pull Brees as soon as he hits 4000. Let the crowd cheer him as he comes off the field and then hide his helmet.

Sitting two weeks is a little worrisome as the offense needs more of a rhythm when the Divisional round gets here and the opponent has continued play, especially if it's Dallas, Chicago, or even LA...

Rest 'em after a half, maybe into the 3rd quarter - then just run, run, run - eating up that clock...

I agree JP, nothing kills teams in the playoffs more than lack momentum. Granted health can kill you too but ive seen plenty divisional playoff home teams lose cause of lack of momentum.

The stats run counter to this sentiment. Each of the last 10 SB participants over the last 5 years have had a bye. The last team that didn't was the 2012 Baltimore squad.

SaintFanintheATL, let me be more specific, I'm talking about having the starters take two (2) weeks off - that's worrisome considering the a wall we hit for a few weeks offensively...

I understand exactly what you are talking about. But no amount of routine or momentum can balance out the risk of an injury to a key player possibly making them unavailable for the playoffs. A game is an uncontrolled environment. The only way to ensure that an injury occurs in that environment is to keep players out the game.

The entire team is going to practice this week. It really doesn't make much sense to think that after playing 4 months of football, that all of a sudden everything that has been drilled in will be lost due an extra week where an actual game isn't played.

It's not like this is a young team with no playoff experience. It's not like this is a team that doesn't have a SB winning coach and QB. A coach and QB that went on their SB run with 3 straight losses and a bye week. Like you, I was around in 2009. And exactly the same arguments were made then.
