Mark Ingram wonders if his record will last with Alvin Kamara scoring like he does
The first rushing touchdown for the New Orleans Saints on Sunday (Dec. 23) put Mark Ingram ahead of Deuce McAllister for the most in franchise history, his 50th coming in the first quarter of a 31-28 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The next two rushing touchdowns by Alvin Kamara pulled him even with Dalton Hilliard for the most overall touchdowns by a Saints player in a season with 18, matching a mark first achieved by Hilliard in 1989. At that rate, Ingram is unsure how long his record will last. The seven-year veteran is due to be a free agent this offseason — but let’s not think about that quite yet — and it would stand to reason that Kamara would have several more chances to close in on Ingram’s freshly minted record. https://www.nola.com/saints/2018/12/...e-he-does.html |

when they were both being interviewed together in the locker room after the game a reporter asked him how he felt about breaking the record and he said “it feels great but it won’t be long before this one breaks it.” He then patted Kamara on the back and smiled. That’s why I love him. It is rare to see two backs who actually seem to enjoy splitting carries. Most ***** about wanting more touches. I think for this reason alone we should keep him.

AK is special. He will have the record n his 4th year.
BUT I agree with The Dude, it's rare to see 2 RBs work together this well. |

Yeah. The 1-2 punch of Kamara and Ingram is awesome. The two of them are an awesome duo. They support each other and both are unselfish players. Besides, it keeps them both fresh.
Re-sign MI for another 3 years. Little doubt Kamara will be re-signed when the time comes. |

Mark Ingram started slowly and is really playing very well. I do hope we signed to another three-year contract. Alvin Kamara is the future but I don't think that he is a full-time back and he needs Mark Ingram punishing the defense.

AK is doing what Reggie Bush should have done while he was here.

Re: Mark Ingram wonders if his record will last with Alvin Kamara scoring like he does
I think the beginning of the season showed us two things. First, he’s not the kind of back that will last all year if he has to carry the load on his own. He got to looking tired by game 4 but they were asking a lot out of him. Second, he is more than capable of carrying the load for a stretch if he has to. On the flip side I don’t know if Ingram could last all season on his own either given his injury history. I think the combination of Ingram/Kamara is about as perfect of a combo as I have ever seen. Skill set, personality, and willingness to know their roll and be happy with it.
