ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Miami Dolphins have hired Randy Mueller for the top spot in their personnel department. Mueller is currently working for ESPN.com and before that he was the general manager for the New Orleans Saints and the Seattle Seahawks. An official announcement on Mueller's hiring could come as early as Monday, June 6. Mueller will replace general manager Rick Spielman, who resigned his post Friday, June 3, but he is not expected to have the same title.

Wow is right. Now we will see if Mr. Benson was right in his hot headed decision to fire this guy. I wonder who will be a contender sooner, us or Miami. We could have made a play for Saban, had we fired Haslett as he should have been. We should still have had Mueller, and there are many personnel decisions since his departure that second that. Very good for Miami.

Yes, it'll be very interesting to see how he does with Miami. I've often wondered what would have happened with the Saints had he stayed. Of course, he was terminated after the 2001 collapse, so maybe it wouldn't have been too much different...except that Sullivan wouldn't be on the team.

Isn't that alone enough? :D

But we wouldn't have had Tesucky, or Ruff either more than likely.

Also, he wasn't fired cause of the 2001 collapse, as it was Haslett's decision to let AB play injured. He was fired cause he didn't stroke Benson's ego by telling him he was trading Ricky Williams, a move that turned out very VERY well for us. But wasn't used as wisely as possible after his departure.

Trust me, he made his share of personnel mistakes. Can anyone say Dale Carter, or Albert Connell? Norman Hand, Grady Jackson?

Doesn't have to be, just had to be better than what we have. What we have appears to have gotten better, but it took years of a learning curve. That curve would have been greatly diminished were Randy still on board.

Those guys came in and contribute on day one. After he was gone is when things slacked off...

Euph is correct... those guys played very well before Mueller left. Things went south afterwards. Connell might have been a mistake, but at the time he was an extremely productive wide receiver for the Redskins. I liked the move at first, but I guess he couldn't change his ways.
