Re: 2009 vs. 2011 vs. 2018: Which team is Saints' best ever?
2018 Defense had way more talent and was much better; they actually shut teams out in the second halves of games whereas Sharper would bail out the bend-don't-break 2009 defense...
2018 Offense actually had more diverse weapons in Thomas, Kamara, Ingram , Ginn, Cast of Rookies, Tight End was problematic with a rookie needing more reg. season seasoning and a broke-down Watson... 2009 Offense was solid, creative with Colston, Bush (underachieved/miscast), Pierre Thomas (Master of the Screen), Lance Moore (3rd & 5 moves chains), and Jeremy Shockey (partying like he was retired)... Return game is a wash if it's Tommylee, Kamara changes the dynamic gives 2018 the edge... Lutz is a far superior, reliable kicker than Hartley ever was... Morstead is a more experienced punter than then... One thing I will say, Payton was hungrier and had something to prove in 2009; today, he's trying too hard to be the smartest guy in the room, outfoxes himself, maybe legacy building??? I'd bet on the deep (except O-line), talented roster of the 2018 team over the 2009 team even though Brees has lost some zip on the ball, he's still pre-snap reading better than anyone... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
