No. 7 - Difference Maker In Playoffs?

fine line between cute and too cute

would definitely rather see him running/catching the ball, not throwing it

Definitely. Could be a good different or a bad. Especially in a trick play. He will definitely have key impact on special teams.

Re: No. 7 - Difference Maker In Playoffs?

I like when I see us line up with him and Kamara in an option run. I don't like when I see him drop back to pass in this same format. You know it's typically a one read progression and he tends to just toss it like it was drawn up despite the coverage or defensive look. Use him to run, block and catch more until he develops more in this role. We are still in the toddler stage of this.

If they use him, Payton will be called either a genius or a dummy.

Re: No. 7 - Difference Maker In Playoffs?

I've noticed that Payton uses him a lot in the middle of the field, on long drives -- Drew will get the first couple of first downs, then Hill moves in for a couple of those semi-crazy gimmick or fun plays, in that area inbetween the 40s. Then once we get closer to the red zone, Brees comes back out to deliver the final kill shot. In some ways it's made Brees even more fearsome, because it seems to me like Brees is on fire and surgically precise, whenever he comes back after we run a couple of those zany, fun Taysom Hill plays. It's gotta be driving defensive players on the other teams crazy.

Re: No. 7 - Difference Maker In Playoffs?

Taysom's success at throwing thus far has been.. uh, lacking.
BUT, defenses have to respect the fact that he might throw it, because he just might. Taysom will definitely be a difference maker in the playoffs. He's already been a difference maker in every close game we've won this year. Whether it's getting a crucial 1st down or blocking a punt. And I expect he'll do his job in the next game.

Re: No. 7 - Difference Maker In Playoffs?

Eagles CBs are showing that some guys just need more reps to get better - Taysom will be the same case...

In the meantime, nothing will fire up that team and Dome more than when Taysom gets some done on the field...

Blocked punt, First Down Conversion on an RPO, Tearing off a big return on a kickoff, it's all good...

In Peyton I trust. Giving a play caller like Sean Peyton a weapon like that. Too fun! Good luck Eagles. WHODAT!

Taysom Hill is a fabulous football player. However, I'm not convinced that he is a good quarterback right now. I like when he's in the game because he can make things happen. We just don't want to get too cute and have a play backfire.

It's a sweet Monday after the game when one of your favorites vindicates you and one of your fandom threads...

He has to have the option to throw the ball because when he lines up they will cheat down expecting run... when they do you pop one over their heads... like last night except the damn holding call!!!

Re: No. 7 - Difference Maker In Playoffs?

That was a gorgeous throw. It was also pretty evident as soon as the ball left his hands that it wasn't Drew that threw it.

I don't think the game would have been remotely close had we started off with that bang. But we won and that's all that matter.

Re: No. 7 - Difference Maker In Playoffs?

That was an amazing play and one you could tell Payton was cooking up and setting up all year with the Hill option runs. It was a great throw and catch and the penalty was marginal. Should have held up.

The throw to AK was a pretty pass

Sean Payton's "Catch em off guard" bag of tricks. Since the on-sides
there is no stopping him.

You're up by 14 points against a team desperately needing a spark. You decline a penalty that gives them a 4th and 1 at their own 30. Taysom Hill is the up back. What we witnessed was the reigning Super Bowl winning coach "get schooled" by the coach that pulled off an on side kick in his Super Bowl victory. Ladies and Gentlemen Doug "Aint No Way He'll Fake It" Pederson!!!

On top of everything else, Hill just looks like he's out there having fun.

Six of them for sure.

that called-back TD just makes him more dangerous
Safeties and CB's might be looking in the backfield, but that throw shows they can't stack the line

I don’t care if he runs like Pee Wee Herman, as long as he keeps making the plays.
