The New Orleans Saints' first postseason game will be against a team they faced in the regular season.

The Cowboys' win against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday (Jan. 5) advanced them to the next round. There, they’ll travel to face the Saints only if the 6-1/2-point favored Chicago Bears win at home Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

If the underdog Eagles beat the Bears, then it will be the Eagles coming to New Orleans next week for a 3:40 p.m. game Jan. 13.

The Saints have the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs and are assured of playing the lower-seeded team to come out of the Wild Card weekend. The Cowboys have the No. 4 seed and the Eagles are No. 6.

If the No. 3 Bears win, they’ll go to Los Angeles and face the No. 2 Rams. An Eagles win would send the Cowboys to L.A.

The Bears and Eagles play 3:40 p.m. Sunday on NBC.

Seattle's offense isn't all that high powered plus their oline is average on their best day. And it was a home game. The Giants ( yeah, the Giants) hung +30 on them in NY a week ago. Girls are a different team away from Jerah World.

Also the Colts hung up 23 on them in Indy in the shutout a couple of weeks before that.

Well, we are 2-1 against the eagles and 0-0 against the cowboys. I know it is the least important stat for a game, but as a fan...

I just am wowed by the fact that we finally even have a playoff record one can look at. Even though 90% of it is in this century.

I was thinking we were pretty charmed against The Eagles, but I had forgotten about the '92 season when as the wild card behind (ALWAYS) behind SF -- the Dome Patrol and Bobby Hebert lost twice to the Eagles in one season. The game was in Philly even though we had the better record. That happened to us in Seattle too.

(I Hate that rule)

When we win the Superbowl this year - we will break 500 in our post season record. There was a time I didn't think I would live to see dat.

But they're the defending SB Champs. It's our time.
If the Saints will win the SB they have to be ready to beat any team, anywhere, anytime.

Re: Saints' first playoff opponent will be Cowboys or Eagles

I agree that taking on all comers is the order of the day. But I always view matchups from the media perspective too. Parkey's double doink created as good a matchup as the Saints would get. Thank goodness we are not going to have to spend this week hearing about the Cowgirls day in and day out. That pit of misery is now in the hands of the Rams. Instead the focus, while still on the Eagles, is much less magnified. The Saints have put the Eagles out of the playoffs in their last two playoff matchups. The Saints also blew them out a couple of months ago. So instead of having to listen to a bunch of Blah, blah, blah of whether or not the Saints can overcome the Cowgirls, the question, just posed on SportsCenter a moment ago, is "Can the Eagles, as a different team with Nick Foles and an improved defense, be able to compete with the Saints in the Superdome?"

If cannot be overstated how glad I am to not have to hear the Cowgirl crap this week. Though if they overtake the Rams Saturday, the hype meter will be pegged at 11... gazillion until the end of the NFC Championship game.

Same with the Bears BTW. Best believe that a Saints Bears championship would timewarp all the way back to 2006. Glad that possibility is also eliminated.

As you might guess, definitely rooting for the Rams on Saturday...

Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO

Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good.
