http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8132007/ Rams release offensive tackle Turley 28-year-old failed physical, missed all of last season Updated: 1:22 p.m. ET June 7, 2005 ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Rams released offensive tackle Kyle Turley on Tuesday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. the newspaper reported that the veteran tackle failed his physical exam in Arizona, where he was rehabilitating a back injury that cost him the entire 2004 season. Turley was officially dubbed as “waived-failed physical. St. Louis reportedly owes Turley $250,000 and will take a $1.82 million salary cap hit this season and a $5.47 million jolt in 2006. Turley, 28, signed a six-year deal with the Rams in 2003 after he was acquired in a trade with the New Orleans Saints. However, differences with head coach Mike Martz and setbacks from a herniated disc and surgery led to his dismissal. A conversation between Turley and Martz in December escalated into a shouting match and ultimately led Martz to file a complaint with NFL security, alleging that Turley threatened him. The San Diego State product started all 16 games during his first year with St. Louis and is best known for his extensive tattoos and tossing the helmet of Jets safety Damien Robinson in 2002. After Robinson grabbed the face mask of Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks and twisted it, Turley ripped Robinson’s helmet off and threw it downfield.
