CB Jason Craft has had an exceptional offseason and has turned up his intensity. Fahkir Brown's absence and McKenzie's injury have opened up a lot of time for Craft to be the focus of the coaching staff.
Great news. And if Brown or McKenzie get hurt, he could stop the bleeding for a while. craft is now 2 years removed from an ACL. Its time for him to step up.

Second round pick Josh Bullocks plays extremely fast an is a ballhawk in practice, but won't see the starting lineup this season barring injury. He will get a lot of playing time on passing downs, he's just too good to keep out of dime sets.
If we can get teams in 3rd and long, we're set. The problem has been forcing 3rd and longs.

Colby Bockwoldt who is a new man with a newly chiseled NFL-caliber physique. Bockwoldt was fast but lacked strength last year, and that has been the focus of his offseason.
Is there a more exciting, intriguing prospect on this team?

James Allen has a rock-solid grip on the strong side job.
I hope this is because he's looked good, not because of the obvious...which is his only real competition is Sedrick Hodge.

2004 5th round pick Rodney Leisle put on 15 pounds of muscle and has really improved from that standpoint but still isn't starting material right now.
I sure hope he's ready by week one, cause we don't have much else.

Barring unforeseen developments, Green should win the job.
Uh-oh. Worst news I've read yet. But who woulda thunk our RDT was gonna be our main weakness?

Jacox is in much better shape this offseason and the Saints hope his extra effort carries through to the regular season.
Kinda wish he'd made the extra effort last year.

Nate Poole has decent speed, nice size and terrific hands and a real shot at sticking on the roster.
Oh yeah, a faster Wille Jackson. Thats EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Man I hope he makes this team. That description is exactly what this team has NOT had since Willie left.

Deuce McAllister is one of the highlights of the entire offseason, if not the highlight. He has taken his conditioning to a new level and is in great shape.
Hmmm. Interesting comment.

i like the article a lot. doesn't sound great for brooks. sounds like same ol same in the land of arron. which is disappointing after i saw him on nfl network. i think the article has to be right because it is to honest not to be. well the only hope there is that we can run the ball so crazy that arron just has open wide outs like crazy. i am liking what i am hearing this year. but i thought the same thing last year. damn can't the season get here already. i am ready to go. at least preseason.

That's exactly why I said, for me, the nfl network interview was a bunch of bs, only demonstrating his PR abilities/inabilities. He may still come around though. This article doesn't mean the season will bring the same ol same ol. It just means he's still struggling iwth the same stuff. Hopefully, if he is working as hard as stated, he can find the other side.

A 4-4-3? we dont have enough solid lb's to run a 4-3 much less a 4-4-3!!! Lord help us!! How bout a 4-1-6 or a 2-2-7 might as well, how dumb are we. Our D improved the last four games and we start experimenting? What was wrong with a base D/man up. that actually worked no credit to the dunce, im mean D coordinator, cause i think that was Haz's call.

Wait till FireVenturi hears this one!

Is that 4 down linemen, 4 Lbs? That means we have to get all of our LBs out their?

I hope they run that when we know the other team is running. Without the extra safety, a play action can mean toast.
we run it on 3rd and 17, with no blitz, cause when you blitz on 3rd and long the qb has to get rid of it quick hence not gaining 17 yds....which would make way too much sense!

GREAT READ!

Glad to hear about Craft's strong offseason. I remember when he was in Jacksonville he was quite a player. Hopefully he has returned to that form. Also, Craft and Thomas as backups??? We're set at CB for once it seems.

I don't know about this...
Bellamy's job is safe at strong safety, make no doubt about it, he is the leader of the defense. Second round pick Josh Bullocks plays extremely fast an is a ballhawk in practice, but won't see the starting lineup this season barring injury.
From what I hear, Bullocks has been having quite the offseason, and Bellamy isn't getting any younger. But we still have plenty of time before the season starts.

I am so excited about our offensive line this season. Our starters are total studs, and our backups are all decent at worst.

I really think that Nate Poole is what we need as a 3rd or 4th receiver (a sure-handed guy who can be relied on to catch a pass on 3rd down). I really hope this guy makes the squad and can do well with us.

I'm disappointed to hear that Shad Meier has had a poor offseason. I was really expecting him to come in and make a difference. But maybe he has; by pushing Boo to take his game to the next level.

I still have little to no confidence in our linebackers and that will continue until they prove something. I like Watson at SLB (I don't think Allen has that good of a grip on it because he didn't exactly have a Pro-Bowl season last year), Fincher at MLB, and I guess Bock at WLB. I hope COlby's newly added weight didn't make him lose a step, hopefully he retained his speed. Even if Allen is in there and one of the other guys aren't, that's still a mediocre and extremely young group of linebackers. I hope they bring it this season.

Not good to hear about McKenzie's hammy. That's the kind of injury that can keep a guy out for a long time.

Anyways, great read...

I wouldn't read much into that, YET. He's a young ascending TE coming into a new system. The Titans wanted to resign him but were forced to let him go due to salary cap reasons. I wouldn't judge him yet on 4 or 5 practices in his undies, just as I wouldn't judge anyone on the positives/negatives the media reports.

Yeah, he's probably not Tony Gonzalez or Jeremy Shockey, but he's probably an upgrade to what we have on our roster. If not an upgrade at least he'll push Boo and Conwell to improve.
