Anyone who thinks the saints are better off without Brees needs to put the pipe down.

Ofcourse we aren't going to be better off without Brees, but it's going to happen at some point anyway and he didn't exactly play well in the second half of the season.

I'd grab a QB whilst we have the chance and let him learn.

I'm just worried about the teams mindset now, I'm sick and tired of all these devastating last minute/second losses, how must they feel.

Not me. Nope. No way. Would never want to go out like that. If anything use it as another chip to come back stronger.

For years Brees had decent offensive weapons but no D support. He never had a legit No. 1 receiver but a better than average No. 2 and 3 and tight end made up for it since he historically spread the ball around. Some years the O line was suspect, but Brees' ability to gets rid of the ball quick and the short passing game kept him in the top tier of NFL passers. The result was a slew of 7-9 seasons.

Last and this year things changed. The D is now much better than average. Very good D line and LB play. Pressure on opposing QBs improved DB play. The problem is Brees' only has one dependable receiver to target. Actually he has a legit No 1 for the first time as a Saint. Two if you add in Kamara. When the O line was healthy he had time to allow other receivers to get open. With a injured O line he was down to 2 dependable receivers. Cover those two and the offense struggles. That is one reason why the his numbers and points scored dropped off later in the year. Next season needs a reliable tight end, better backup O line men and upgrades at No 2 & 3 receivers.

Wish List this off season ...

Get a real TE
O line depth
Solid #2 WR.

Nothing against rookies or UDFA (as your #4,5) but you need legit players/proven vets deep in the playoffs.

Shimmy Rankins was missed in the middle. We were just a hair late in getting to "Golf". Hopefully the core guys are back in 2019.

Maybe the Saints FO get aggressive in FA and/or trades.

TO WILLSAINT81: THIS IN THE NFL RULE BOOK IMAGINE THAT!!

Consider Rule 17, Section 2, Article 1: “The Commissioner has the sole authority to investigate and take appropriate disciplinary and/or corrective measures if any club action, non-participant interference, or calamity occurs in an NFL game which the Commissioner deems so extraordinarily unfair or outside the accepted tactics encountered in professional football that such action has a major effect on the result of the game.”

Even though Rams defensive back Nickell Robey-Coleman admits that he opted to wipe out Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis because Robey-Coleman believed he’d been beaten for a touchdown, it’s hard to imagine this being the kind of “extraordinarily unfair” act that would have a major effect on the outcome of the game. Then again, the rule is there for a reason; if ever it would be invoked, wouldn’t now be the time to do it?

And here’s where it gets even juicier. Consider Rule 17, Section 2, Article 3: “The Commissioner’s powers under this Section 2 include . . . the reversal of a game’s result or the rescheduling of a game, either from the beginning or from the point at which the extraordinary act occurred.”

Basically, the Commissioner has the power to turn back time to the spot of the penalty that wasn’t called, put the teams back on the field from that point in the game, give the Saints first and goal at the spot of the foul, put 1:49 on the clock, and let the game proceed, tied at 20, with the Rams having one time out left.

Fat chance...

There is no doubt drew is not the drew from 5 years ago but he is still a top 5-10 qb. When he leaves we are done for awhile. SP has crapped away our draft picks so no qb this year. No way we would have made the playoffs with trashy teddy.

I know it’s not his fault but I have been saying it all year, TLL is gonna cost us a game. I believe Kamara in on same play gets that call. TTL is just snake bit. Cost us last year against Tampa. Almost cost us with the fumble against Carolina this year. Too much trickery gonna on through season and this game. Alvin gets that call. Not TLL’s fault, but the guy just has bad luck.

Nah, I don't agree with that at all.

I just dont understand the notions that I am reading. Drew has never been a cannon arm and his accuracy this year was better than it has ever been. Statically 2018 looks almost just like 2009 except he had 6 fewer interceptions this year.

20+ 2018 (58), 2014 (52), 2009 (58)

Drew also has his most 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives of his career this year.

When his attempts and yards were a lot higher everyone moaned that stats didnt matter it was about wins, well we have the wins... still moaning and groaning... Dont like the QB, dont like the coach, dont like the owner... You a fan of the color pallet?
