It wasn't our year

So you may recall why I was not so optimistic before this season, and right after our loss to Minnesota. Our loss ended the NFC South's SB run, and it was not gonna just come right back. I knew LAR was winning the NFC almost all offseason. I even knew we would lose to them. The NFC is a merry-go-round conference with divisions. It's a wait-your-turn conference.

We may have been robbed, but Carolina and Atlanta blew out their NFCCG opponents. We had to deal with a team that got in our heads. It would have been better if we turned it around when Seattle died down some, but we waited until other teams started to rebuild. If Brees does not have the patience to wait until the NFC South's next turn, then he may have to settle for one ring.

In 2016, we could have had the 1 seed if we didn't try to sign AP. We wouldn't have played Minnesota on MNF week 1. I don't know why I'm doing this but I am frustrated with our contending when other teams are.

Snap out of it...

We made it to the NFC Championship game. You know how many teams wish they made it that far?

Alhough I am frunstrated but that falls on not watching the SB after that call.

This is a bunch of bulls***.

A game deciding non pass INT call, face guarding & helmet to helmet play that should be an automatic penalty. It doesn't matter if the Saints blew a lead. At the end it all came down to a final drive and play which WASN'T called. This has nothing to do with Atlanta, Carolina or the Rams. The New Orleans Saints were robbed of a trip back to the Super bowl and playing for their 2nd Lombardi trophy.

End of story.

Will, do you know why I find you so annoying? Because you're a guy that waits until something happens, then posts and gloats about it like you "knew it all along."

You didn't know anything. And posting that you knew this would happen makes you look even more narcissistic.

Why do you need validation so bad? Are you insecure? Whatever the reason, most people probably aren't in the mood for your "I told you so" BS.

Had the Saints gotten to the SB and won, you wouldn't get on here and say that you were wrong. Of course not. That would be ridiculous.

From an article on The Advocate website. All from LA or near. Hmm....

Gary Cavaletto, the referee who didn't throw a flag on the infamous no-call benefiting the Rams, lives about 100 miles from Los Angeles. The other official near the play, Patrick Turner, is described as a resident of a Los Angeles suburb. Back judge Todd Prukop is from a community just south of L.A.

I was going to start a thread about my feeling about this game but this is as good as any place to vent.

I am still mad as hell about the non-call, but after a day to think about the game my fury is now directed 100% at Sean Payton.

I lay this loss 100% at his feet; the game should never have come down to that non-call.

When Ginn made the catch that had the Saints in the redzone the score was tied, there was under 2:00 minutes and the lambs had a single time out.

SP had to get cute. He should have called 3 straight runs; hell I would have been thrilled if he had the Saints in a victory formation.

There was 1:45 on the clock, kneel or hand the ball to Ingram or Kimara; lambs burn their final timeout.

Do the same thing on 2nd down and clock doesn't quit running until the Saints are ready to kick the GW FG.

Lambs have maybe 30 seconds to get in FG range without any timeouts.

To quote Forrest Gump,"That's all I have to say about that."

The Rams had started moving the ball. A first down there and it's game over. In retrospect I wish he'd have just run it too, but in the moment I fully understand what he was trying to do. Regardless, his plan would have worked had the refs not be in the can for the league to get LA to the big game.

Re: It wasn't our year

It was a perfect storm of us not holding the lead and tightening up while the Rams gained momentum. The Rams going quick and doing hurry up changed the feel of the game. Suh, Donald and Fowler also started dominating our o-line in the second half both against the run and the pass. The pass to Ginn to get us in that position was a prayer. The Rams completely turned the tables and we, frankly at times, choked. It was a split between Brees, Payton's calling and just everything.

In spite of all that, Robey-Coleman committed an infraction that would have given us checkmate and allowed us to narrowly escape. But the refs moved their chess piece and the rest is history.
