IIRC, Akiem wanted to be a 5 tech when Jordan had that locked down. Then he became lazy, took plays off etc. He "flashed" every 15 plays. Essentially it took 3 different teams before Akiem put it all together.

Too bad Coach Nielsen never had the opportunity to coach him up in New Orleans.
My understanding was we were going to a 3-4 (remember Hau'oli Kikaha?) and he was a poor fit...

We had one on our roster and let him go? Will we ever get the real story???

Another, Pay/Mis failed to make a move on another when we clearly had need and he was affordable...

I thought we already Did. I remember him swinging a belt on the beach after he had developed hard feelings among the players and coaches. He ran himself out of town and was a reclamation project when he left here. Too bad he couldn't get his **** together here.

We need another force on the interior D line. All starts in the middle....3 of those four players were legit playoff defenses.

I go Dat before I go safety

Interesting discussion about the nickel - good argument made to let a soon-to-be 32yo P-Rob geaux for the 26yo Honey Badger...

Mathieu could play safety and nickel and would give better value for that salary slot...

Wow ... the Peat "trade talk" is gaining some momentum. I guess Bobby Hebert was on to something when there were rumors that we were trying to package Peat & another player in exchange for Patrick Peterson.

It will be interesting to see what happens next month when FA begins.

Re: 2019 Saints NFL Free Agency

Peat has been a little too up and down for my taste however I'd like him back at a reasonable #. 9.6M is a lot of coin for a average guard. I don't buy into the "versatility" angle either. He has slow feet and avg hand movement while at tackle.

Hopefully the Saints front office brass trust the tape when it's time to pay up.
