Jermon Bushrod came through in the clutch for the New Orleans Saints when Terron Armstead went down with an injury, returning to his old spot at left tackle and holding it down for six games until Armstead was fit to return. But Bushrod paid a big price: he will be going under the knife to repair a gnarly thumb injury on Jan. 29, per Luke Johnson of the Times-Picayune. Bushrod is one of many Saints free agents who are scheduled to test the market in March, when his contract expires. He’s spent a dozen years in the NFL, seven of them with the Saints, while seeing through other stops with the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. The Saints were fortunate to bring him back to town as a free agent in 2018, and he was able to help them in a big way.
