Re: Drew Brees challenges Saints fans to channel frustration into positivity after NFC championship loss
He's playing the long game. It is in his best interests.
I didn't jump up and down and scream and yell - when it happened I simply accepted the outcome and kept my cool...because my son was in the next room, and it's important for me that he not grow up to be one of those guys who allows his emotions to control his actions. You can't get un-robbed, so you have to move forward, but that doesn't mean you forget. We can't change the outcome, but my son knows I'm not going to watch the super bowl this year, for the first time in his life (he was born the year we won it all), and he knows why, but he also saw me take it in stride. We can't change the outcome, but we can do what is necessary to hold to account those who blatantly robbed us, our team, our city, the players, coaches - all of us. We can do that by very publicly NOT LETTING IT DIE. Our sports reporters need to keep writing. Our politicians need to keep mentioning it. Our team leaders, from Mrs Benson to Payton to Thomas and Jordan and Kamara and Ingram, they all need to keep doing what they're doing. Our players need to use it as motivation. As fans, we need to bring signs to the game, wear anti-roger t-shirts, expose the Super Bowl as a lie. We have to keep it going. In a thousand different ways. We must. |
