Even though all of the high powered offenses had statistical fall-offs later in the season. In the Saint's case is was largely due to injuries on the O-line and receiver positions. After their bye week the Rams O went mostly dormant but for games against Little Sisters of the Poor (SF and AZ).

As I mentioned in another post, the 2019 season will be a major test. Their schedule is loaded with teams that can actually play defense. Let's see what kind of numbers they put up then.

I agree about Goff and McVay. I would be frightened if I were a fan of any of the teams who recently hired a young assistant from McVay (Green Bay, whom is in for a rude awakening with their young coach and the big baby they have at QB). I do not believe he's the future of the NFL. We heard this same nonsense a few years ago about Kyle Shanahan and all he has amounted to is 28-3 jokes since losing the Super Bowl.

I don't think the Rams will get another gifted chance like this at winning a SB. They've had zero o-line injuries in 2 years and then in the big game, Wade Phillips had a brilliant scheme that held the Pats to 13 points and none of that mattered cause Jared Goff played so bad, the Pats defense looked like the 1985 Bears out there.

True about the Rams after the bye week. Goff went from looking like Kurt Warner for half of the season to looking like Ryan Tannehill. He would be Ryan Tannehill 2.0 if not for McVay for telling him what to audible and where to throw the ball pre-snap. He does not know how to read defenses at all and he panics under pressure. I honestly thought Goff was going to be a huge draft bust in his rookie season cause he was one of the worst QBs I had seen as a rookie since the 90s. Without McVay, he'd definitely be a bust and the Pats defense reminded us that in the SB with how thoroughly they exposed him.

2019 will definitely be a test. Honestly, the more I think about it with our Saints, I believe what really doomed us was not having another play maker on offense besides Kamara and MT. No one fears Tommy Lee Lewis, Kirkwood, Dan Arnold or Austin Carr. Losing Ted Ginn hurt too. This receiving corps was probably the worst we've had in the Payton era.

I wish we had a #2 guy like the Pats do with Edleman. That would've really helped us out. In the past, we had decent TEs like Shockey and Graham who were reliable when needing a first down to extend a drive.

If we can get some better receivers or at the bare minimum, just a #2 guy to help out MT, I think we have good chances next year.
